Iran’s celebrities face reprisals for supporting protests

BAGHDAD (AP) — Singers, actors, sports stars — the list goes on. Iranian celebrities have been startlingly public in their support for the massive anti-government protests shaking their country. And the ruling establishment is lashing back.

Celebrities have found themselves targeted for arrest, have had passports confiscated and faced other harassment.

15 October 2022; MEMO: The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas recommended on Friday that Fatah should not listen to the US or Israeli advice in order to maintain an internal Palestinian reconciliation.

Speaking to a local TV channel, senior Hamas leader Mousa Abu Marzouq announced that all previous attempts to end the internal Palestinian division have not come to fruition due to US and Israeli intervention.

Qatar shares 'similar views' to Turkiye on regional issues

15 October 2022; MEMO: Qatar's Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani shared on Friday that his country has "similar views" to Turkiye regarding different regional issues, Anadolu Agency reported.

This came during a joint press conference held with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu in Istanbul following a ministerial meeting to prepare for the 8th meeting of the High Strategic Committee between the two countries.

Palestinians mourn doctor killed by Israeli occupation forces

15 October 2022; MEMO: Hundreds of Palestinian mourners on Friday participated in the funeral procession of Palestinian doctor Abdullah Abu Al-Teen, 43, who was killed by Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank city of Jenin.

The Palestinian doctor was severely injured by Israeli occupation forces while trying to rescue wounded Palestinians in front of Jenin Government Hospital.

Dr Abu Al-Teen was pronounced dead shortly after being shot, the Palestinian Health Ministry shared.

Saudi Arabia announces $400 mln humanitarian aid to Ukraine

Oct 15 (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia will provide $400 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine, Saudi state news agency SPA said, adding that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman made a phone call to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Friday.

The crown prince expressed the kingdom's readiness to continue efforts of mediation and support everything that contributes to de-escalation, SPA added.
