India: PMO refuses to give info on blackmoney brought from abroad

New Delhi, Nov 25; GANASHAKTI:  The Prime Minister's Office has refused to share details on the quantum of blackmoney brought back from abroad, citing a provision of the RTI Act that bars disclosure of information that may impede investigation and prosecution of offenders.

The PMO's response came after the Central Information Commission, in an order passed on October 16, had asked it to provide details on blackmoney within 15 days.

Replying to an RTI query, the PMO said a Special Investigation Team is investigating the matter.

India beat Australia by 6 wickets to level T20 series

Sydney, Nov 25 (PTI) India defeated Australia by six wickets in the final T20 International to share the spoils in the three-match series here Sunday.

D'Arcy Short (33) was the top-scorer for Australia, while Krunal Pandya picked up four wickets for India.

Chasing the target, skipper Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 61 while Shikhar Dhawan made 41.

Australia won the first T20 International by four runs via D/L method before the second match was abandoned due to rain.

Ukrainian drone crossing contact line downed near Gorlovka in DPR

DONERSK, November 25. /TASS/. A Ukrainian drone was downed by militias of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic when it was crossing the contact line near Gorlovka, Daniil Bezsonov, a spokesman for the DPR’s defense ministry said on Sunday.

"Our air defense downed another Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle, which crossed the contact line this night," the Donetsk News Agency quoted him as saying. "It was an assault drone with a flame liquid shell."

Poland drops case against reporter who filmed neo-Nazis

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Polish national prosecutors said Sunday that they are dropping a criminal investigation into a reporter for a U.S.-owned broadcaster on suspicions of propagating fascism for having gone undercover to film neo-Nazis.

TVN, owned by Discovery, broadcast undercover footage in January that showed members of a Polish neo-Nazi group celebrating Adolf Hitler’s birthday in a forest in 2017.

India: Two Naxal terrorists killed in Bijapur

Raipur, Nov 25 (PTI) Two Naxals were killed and a police personnel was injured in encounters in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Bijapur district Sunday, police said.

The gun-battles took place when teams of police's District Reserve Guard (DRG) of and Special Task Force (STF) were out on anti-Naxal operations in Gangaloor and Madded areas.

Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg told PTI that a combined squad of DRG and STF was cordoning off the jungles between Nilamadgu and Korinjed in Madded area, 450 km from Raipur, when it came under fire from the rebels.

Russia blocks passage in Kerch Strait after Ukraine incident

MOSCOW (AP) — Russia has blocked passage through the Kerch Strait, a narrow body of water nestled between Crimea and the Russian mainland, after three Ukrainian navy ships made what the Russian coast guard has called an unauthorized crossing through Russian territorial waters.

The move comes after months of growing tensions between Ukraine and Russia, which annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014 and has steadily worked to increase its zone of control around the peninsula.

India: Married woman gang raped at her home

Muzaffarnagar, Nov 25 (PTI) A 26-year-old married woman was allegedly raped by three people at her home in the absence of her husband in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, police said Sunday.

The accused had threatened the woman of dire consequences if she disclosed the matter to anyone, Station House Officer Bhagat Singh said.

On Saturday, the three men entered the woman's home forcefully and raped her when her husband was not around, he said.

The accused were absconding, the SHO said, adding a case was registered against them.

RPF conducts action against illegal vendors

KANPUR: In a massive checking drive conducted against illegal vendors at the Central railway station and its outer areas here on Saturday, the railway protection force has caught as many as 17 vendors.

Talking about this operation, Rajiv Verma, inspector, RPF said the campaign against them would carry on continuously. This initiative was taken up following a complaint made directly to the union railways minister through a tweet.

White House deputy chief receiving millions from Fox

WEST PALM BEACH, Florida (AP) — White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications Bill Shine has received millions of dollars in severance from Fox News Channel’s parent company and is owed millions more, a new financial disclosure report shows.

The report released Friday shows that Shine received $8.4 million in severance pay from 21st Century Fox after he left in May 2017. He’ll also receive bonus and options payments in 2018 and 2019 amounting to $7 million for the two years combined. The agreement is set to expire May 1, 2019.

Russia will verify US claims of moon landings

MOSCOW (AP) — The head of Russia’s Roscosmos space agency has said that a proposed Russian mission to the moon will be tasked with verifying that the American moon landings were real, though he appeared to be making a joke.

“We have set this objective to fly and verify whether they’ve been there or not,” said Dmitry Rogozin in a video posted Saturday on Twitter.

Israeli sues Airbnb over ouster of settler rentals

24 Nov 2018; AFP: Israeli lawyers have filed a class action against Airbnb after its decision to remove Jewish settler homes in the occupied West Bank from its rental listings.

A spokesman for the attorneys, who spoke to AFP Friday on condition of anonymity, said the lead plaintiff was Maanit Rabinovich of Kida settlement in the West Bank.

Rabinovich says Airbnb never contacted her to warn her of its intention.
