Modi govt bent on ruining country: Punjab minister

Bhopal, Nov 13 (PTI) Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal Tuesday alleged that the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narenda Modi was bent on ruining the country.

He also blamed the Modi government for "wreaking havoc" for the economy through decisions like demonetisation and GST.

"After the independence in 1947, we built a nest, which is India. We got independence after toils and sacrifices...It did not come easily. But sadly, instead of protecting it, the prime minister is bent on ruining the country," he told reporters here.

Sri Lanka parliament sacks Rajapakse, leaving power vacuum

14 Nov 2018; AFP: Sri Lanka's parliament on Wednesday voted out the bitterly disputed government of former strongman Mahinda Rajapakse, removing one controversial figure but leaving the country in a power vacuum.

The island nation has been in crisis since the president sacked prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on October 26 and replaced him with Rajapakse, who served as president until being voted out three years ago.

Firefighters battle blazes on two fronts in California, 50 dead

Greek civil servants walk off job in 24-hour strike

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Civil servants in Greece have walked off the job in a 24-hour strike to protest austerity measures and are demanding wage and pension increases as well as the abolition of all legislation imposed as part of the country’s international bailouts.

Wednesday’s strike is due to affect local government. State hospital workers also participated. Hundreds of people gathered for protest marches in central Athens.

India: Jewelery store looted of Rs 2 cr in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, Nov 14 (PTI) Five masked men laced with arms looted a jewelery store of Rs 2 crore at gunpoint in Shyam Park area, police said on Wednesday.

The showroom was located next to the Sahibabad police station, they said.

According to the owner of the shop, Rahul, they robbed all gold and diamond ornaments from the store.

Police have not received the list of looted ornaments till now, they said.

Authorities still assessing why California bar terrorist snapped
