50,000 troops to participate in NATO's Trident Juncture 2018 exercise in Norway

OSLO, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- About 50,000 troops from 31 countries will participate in NATO's Trident Juncture 2018 exercise in Norway from Oct. 25 to Nov. 7, the Norwegian Armed Forces said on Wednesday.

All 29 NATO member nations and its partners Sweden and Finland, with around 150 aircraft, 65 vessels and up to 10,000 vehicles, will take part in the exercise, which would be the alliance's biggest maneuvers since the Cold War.

World Bank, IMF heads urge US, China to play by trade rules

Christine Lagarde, managing director of the International Monetary Fund, said she would advise Beijing and Washington to cool down, fix aspects of the world trading system that need fixing and “don’t break it.”

Russia to deploy mobile satellite data receiver in Cuba in 2019

MOSCOW, October 10. /TASS/. Russia by the end of April 2019 will deploy in Cuba a mobile receiver of data from remote sensing satellites in the optical and infrared wavelength ranges, as follows from information available at the government purchases website.

The receiver, created in 2015, has passed government certification tests. The station is to go operational before April 30, 2019. It will be receiving data from the satellites Resurs-P, Kanopus-V and Kanopus-V-IK with an infrared camera and transmit them to Russia via Luch data relay satellites.

About 50 houses destroyed in wake of explosions at ammunitions depot in Ukraine — media

KIEV, October 10. /TASS/. About fifty houses were destroyed as a result of the explosions at the ammunitions depot in the Avgustovka settlement (Ichnya District) in northern Ukraine's Chernigov Region, the TSN (Television News Network) website of the Ukrainian 1+1 channel informed on Wednesday.

"About 50 houses only in the Avgustovka settlement are fully unfit for living. Four houses caught fire after a direct projectile hit. Other houses were smashed. The people evacuated have no home to return to," the message informs.

Trump mocks #MeToo movement

Rahul raises questions on Sitharaman's France visit

New Delhi, Oct 10 (PTI) Congress president Rahul Gandhi Wednesday raised questions on Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's France visit, alleging that work has begun to justify the prime minister's decision to buy Rafale fighter aircraft.

He took to Twitter to say while the Supreme Court has asked for the details of the Rafale decision-making process, the decision to buy the fighter aircraft was taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Gandhi alleged that processes to justify Modi's decision are being invented.

New Farakka Express derails near Rae Bareli in UP; 7 killed

Lucknow/New Delhi, Oct 10; PTI: Nine coaches and the engine of the New Delhi bound New Farakka Express derailed near Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh early Wednesday, killing at least seven people and seriously injuring nine, officials said.

The accident on the New Farakka Express (14003) that was on its from Malda in West Bengal to New Delhi took place in Harchandpur area of Rae Bareli district at 6.10 am, Uttar Pradesh Additional Director General (ADG), Law and Order, Anand Kumar said.

About 30-35 people received minor injuries, he said.

Congress will get two-thirds majority in Raj: Pilot

Bikaner, Oct 10 (PTI) Rajasthan Congress president Sachin Pilot on Wednesday claimed his party will gain two-thirds majority in the Assembly election in the state scheduled for December 7, asserting they were receiving good public response.

"We will come to power with 2/3 majority in Rajasthan," Pilot said at a public meeting of Congress president Rahul Gandhi in Bikaner.

He said the party was receiving good response all over the state.

"BJP president also came here recently. Compare the response between their (BJP) and our meetings," Pilot said.
