29 May 2023; MEMO: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday submitted a draft bill to the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, for the introduction of sanctions against Iran, Anadolu news agency reported citing local media.

Tehran, IRNA - Iranian President Ebrahim Rayeesi has said that Iran and Oman have upgraded their cooperation from a level of simple trade to cooperation on investment projects.

President Raisi made the remarks in a joint meeting between high-ranking Iranian and Omani officials in Tehran on Sunday.

The joint viewpoints and approach for regional convergence of the two countries' leaders along with proper capacities can broaden their cooperation at bilateral and regional levels, he said in the meeting. 

Tehran, IRNA- The New Development Bank (NDB) of the BRICS group of major emerging economies is currently engaged in talks with Saudi Arabia to accept the oil-rich kingdom as its ninth member, according to a report.

The Financial Times reported on Sunday that the potential addition of Saudi Arabia to the BRICS bank aims to enhance the Shanghai-based lender’s funding capabilities, especially as its founding shareholder Russia faces challenges due to Western sanctions.

28 May 2023; MEMO: A Turkish defense company has signed a multimillion-dollar contract with an African country to supply its border and internal security needs, reports Anadolu Agency.

Asisguard, which operates in the fields of armed drones, electro-optics, and vehicle modernization, signed a contract of some $36.5 million with the country, according to data obtained by Anadolu. The country's name was not given.

28 May 2023; MEMO: Iraq said that an electricity grid interconnection with Jordan will start production on July 1, reports Anadolu Agency.

"Production will start with a capacity of 50 megawatts in the first phase," Electricity Ministry spokesman Ahmed Moussa said in statements quoted by state news agency INA.

He said production had been scheduled to start in June but "was delayed due to weather conditions and arrangements on the Jordanian side."

28 May 2023; MEMO: Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been reelected Türkiye's president in runoff elections, the chairman of the country's Supreme Election Council (YSK) said on Sunday, reports Anadulou.

Speaking to reporters in the capital Ankara, YSK head Ahmet Yener said that Erdogan won Türkiye's presidency over opposition challenger Kemal Kilicdaroglu in the second-round runoff vote.

Tehran, IRNA - Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq is slated to embark on a two-day visit to Iran on Sunday.

Sultan of Oman's visit will take place at the invitation of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, IRNA reported.

President Raisi will officially welcome Sultan Haitahm bin Tariq at Sa'ad Abad Cultural-Historical Complex in Tehran on Sunday evening.

The visit will be carried out within the framework of ongoing consultations between the two countries to discuss various regional and international developments and to enhance diplomatic and economic relations.

27 May 2023; AA: US President Joe Biden said Friday he is ''hopeful'' of a deal to raise the national debt limit by Friday night that could prevent an economic meltdown.

Biden made brief remarks to reporters about the debt ceiling before leaving Washington for Camp David.

"Things are looking good, I'm very optimistic," he said. "I hope we'll be able to know by tonight whether we have a deal.''

26 May 2023; MEMO: The European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC), which represents over 45 million European workers and their trade unions, decided today to boycott products made in illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The organisation also stressed the importance of regulatory measures to prevent EU legal entities from importing or exporting products manufactured in illegal Israeli settlements in accordance with EU treaties and international law.

26 May 2023; MEMO: Russia signalled, on Thursday, that if demands to improve its grain and fertiliser exports are not met, then it will not extend beyond 17 July a deal allowing the safe wartime export of the same products from three Ukrainian Black Sea ports, Reuters reports.
