Russia reports over 7,500 coronavirus cases in the past day

MOSCOW, September 26. /TASS/: Russia’s coronavirus cases grew by 7,523 in the past day, a record high since June 22, the anti-coronavirus crisis center told reporters on Saturday.

According to its data, the daily growth rate in cases rose to 0.7%. The previous week the figure did not exceed 0.6%. The total number of COVID-19 cases in Russia rose to 1,143,571.

Some new 1,792 COVID-19 cases were recorded in Moscow, 232 in St. Petersburg, 204 in the Moscow Region, 189 in the Rostov Region, 166 in the Nizhny Novgorod Region and 159 in the Voronezh Region.

22 die in Ukraine military plane crash

MOSCOW (AP) — A Ukrainian military plane carrying aviation school students crashed and burst into flames Friday while landing, killing 22 people, the country’s emergencies service said.

Two other people on board were seriously injured and four people were missing. The An-26 crashed while landing at the airport in Chuhuiv, about 400 kilometers (250 miles) east of the capital Kyiv.

Reports said that the plane had a military crew and that most of those aboard were students at an aviation university run by the defense ministry.

Russia: Nuclear submarine Irkutsk may return to Pacific Fleet in 2023 — source

MOSCOW, September 25. /TASS/: The Project 949A Antey-class multipurpose nuclear-powered submarine Irkutsk, which has been awaiting repair and modernization for more than 20 years, may return to tactical composition of the Pacific Fleet in 2023, a source in the shipbuilding industry told TASS.

"Given the opportunity, the expected return date for Irkutsk is 2023," the source said.

Earlier it was expected that Irkutsk submarine will return to the Pacific Fleet in 2017. Then the dates were shifted to 2019, then to 2022.

 

Russia does not plan to introduce stricter COVID-19 measures so far — Kremlin

MOSCOW, September 25. /TASS/: Russia is not planning to introduce more serious restrictions to combat the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic so far, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday.

"As far as I am aware, this is not being discussed right now," he said, answering a question on whether stricter measures would be required in Russia to curb the spread of the epidemic.

Russia: Military exercise Kavkaz-2020 ends with mock enemy defeat

KAPUSTIN YAR PROVING GROUND /Astrakhan Region/, September 25. /TASS/: The main phase of the strategic exercise Kavkaz-2020 at the proving ground Kapustin Yar in the Astrakhan Region has ended with the enemy defeat by the coalition force. Russian President Vladimir Putin observed the final events on site.

"Coalition forces incorporating contingents from Russia, Armenia, Belarus, China, Myanmar and Pakistan carried out a counter-offensive operation to inflict a crushing defeat on the enemy force at the Kapustin Yar proving ground," the Defense Ministry said on Friday.

Russia: Moscow reports 1,560 new coronavirus cases, highest since June 12

MOSCOW, September 25. /TASS/: Moscow recorded 1,560 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, the highest number since June 12, the anti-coronavirus crisis center’s data shows.

Moscow’s daily increase stands at 0.6%. Yesterday, the city identified 1,050 infections over the previous 24-hour period.

Over the past 24 hours, 1,227 recovered from the virus and 14 more people died from the virus-related causes.

Russia dismisses US threats on Iran cooperation, to resume trade after UN embargo ends Oct

MOSCOW, Sept 25 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Russia dismissed the threat of US sanctions and attempts to isolate Iran, saying it intended to trade with Tehran once a UN arms embargo expires next month.

The embargo on conventional arms shipments to Iran is set to expire on Oct 18 after the United States failed to win support for a new UN resolution.

The administration of US President Donald Trump says it has decided to unilaterally reinstate virtually all of the UN sanctions on Iran lifted under a 2015 nuclear accord with Tehran.

Russia: Avifavir coronavirus drug to cost $104

MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/: The Avifavir coronavirus drug price in pharmacies will be about 8,000 rubles ($103.9), being approximately 30% lower than the price of foreign counterparts, chief executive of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Kirill Dmitriev said at a press conference on Thursday.

"Our price will be about eight thousand rubles," Dmitriev said. The drug price will be approximately 30% lower than for counterparts, he noted.

RUSSIA: Submarine hits target with Kalibr missile 100 miles away during Kavkaz exercise

MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/: The crew of the Black Sea Fleet’s submarine The Kolpino launched a Kalibr cruise missile to hit an on-shore target 100 nautical miles (185 kilometers away) during the Kavkaz-2020 military exercise, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"To practice the skills of using smart weapons The Kolpino’s crew launched one missile from the submerged position. The cruise missile hit the designated on-shore target at a proving ground about 100 nautical miles away," the Defense Ministry said.

Drones recorded the moment the missile hit the target.

RUSSIA: Putin unwilling to return to restrictions imposed in spring 2020

NOVO-OGARYOVO, September 24. /TASS/: It is necessary to keep the situation with the coronavirus spread in Russia under control as the return to restrictive measures imposed this spring would be highly undesirable, President Vladimir Putin said at an online meeting with newly-elected governors on Thursday.
