PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (AP) — Cambodia’s electoral body on Saturday announced the final results of last month’s election, sealing a landslide victory for the ruling party of long-serving Prime Minister Hun Sen and a mandate for the next five years.

In an announcement on TVK state television and government social media platforms, the country’s National Election Committee said Hun Sen’s Cambodian People’s Party won 120 of 125 available seats in the July 23 general election.

ADB approves 100 mln USD loan to Cambodia for boosting labor force competitiveness

PHNOM PENH, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a 100-million-U.S.-dollar loan to help boost the caliber of Cambodia's labor force by addressing skills gaps and shortages.

In its press statement on Tuesday, the lender said this will be done through reforms and investments in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) combined with private sector participation.

PHNOM PENH, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said on Wednesday that he would step down from Aug. 22 after serving the post for more than 38 years in the Southeast Asian nation, and would pass the reins of power to his eldest son Hun Manet.

"Hun Manet will become the prime minister in just more than three weeks," he said in a televised speech on the state-run National Television of Cambodia (TVK).

PHNOM PENH, Jul 24 (NNN-AKP) – The ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) of Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen, claimed a landslide victory in yesterday’s general election, a party spokesman said.

Though official results had yet to be announced, CPP spokesman, Sok Eysan confirmed the results last night, saying that, this marked another great success for the CPP.

“We have won a landslide victory in this election, but we have not yet calculated the number of seats we have gained,” he told Xinhua. “This truly reflects people’s confidence in the CPP’s leadership.”

PHNOM PENH, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia has pinned hopes on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement and bilateral Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) to boost its exports of garment, footwear and travel (GFT) goods.

Cambodian Footwear Association president Ly Khun Thai said the Southeast Asian country has seen a significant rise in the exports of shoes to China and South Korea since the RCEP and Cambodia's bilateral FTAs with China and South Korea entered into force last year.

Cambodia Advises Travellers, Fishermen Not To Venture Out To Sea Due To Bad Weather

PHNOM PENH, Jul 15 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodia advised travellers and fishermen not to venture out to sea from tomorrow to Jul 20, as the kingdom is suffering from the impact of a typhoon.

Cambodia will be affected by a typhoon in the Philippines, which will brew over the South China Sea before moving on to northern Vietnam, the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology said. Such a situation will cause low-to-moderate rainfall in the lowlands and the highlands in Cambodia, the statement said.

Cambodia still suffers pain from U.S. cluster bombs dropped half-century ago: PM

PHNOM PENH, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia still underwent pain from U.S. cluster munitions dropped in the Southeast Asian country half a century ago, the country's Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said on Sunday.

"Cambodia has suffered painful experience from cluster bombs dropped by the United States in the early 1970s," he said in a message released on his official Telegram channel.

"Until now, it has been more than half a century, but (we) have not found a way to destroy all of them yet," he added.
