India: UP woman held hostage, raped for 4 days

Banda (UP), Mar 24 (PTI) A man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly holding a woman hostage and raping her for four days in a village here, police said.

According to police, the accused Mobin (30) took the woman to his place for some work and sexually abused her.

"The 25-year-old woman along with her husband filed a complaint and an FIR was registered against the accused on Tuesday," Jaishyam Shukla, SHO, City police station said.

India: Mathura court requested to reject plea against mosque

Mathura, Mar 22 (PTI) A Muslim body on Monday requested a Mathura court to reject the plea seeking the removal of a mosque near a temple which the devouts believe marks the birthplace of Lord Krishna.

The plea seeking the removal of the 17th century Shahi Idgah mosque from the 13.37-acre premises of the Katra Keshav Dev temple was filed by advocate Mahendra Pratap Singh and four others.

India: Jajmau's Defence Colony was once roamed by hyenas

Kanpur: Hyena, a nocturnal carnivorous wild animal, used to wander here once upon a time. But it is today a highly populated colony, said a 47-year-old man adding that dirty spots are still existing here. This is the main paradox of this Defence Colony. It is supposed to have established around the year1974-75. It may be different. 

Initially, the houses, as the man born in this area told, had been purchased in about Rs 5500 by the people. He hastened to add that today's price runs in crore.

India: Man held for rape of four-year-old in UP's Ballia

Ballia (UP), Mar 20 (PTI) A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a four-year-old girl at a village here, police said on Saturday.

Revti police station SHO Yadvendra Pandey said around 10.30 am on Friday, the accused lured the girl to his house and raped her.

On a complaint of the girl's mother, a case has been registered against the accused under provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act.

The girl has been sent for a medical examination, police said.

India: UP govt did nothing in 4 years to help homebuyers

Noida (UP), Mar 19 (PTI) The BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government has done nothing in four years to help home buyers who are awaiting possession of their flats in Noida and Greater Noida, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) here alleged on Friday.

On a day the Yogi Adityanath-led government marked four years of its completion in Uttar Pradesh, the AAP's Gautam Buddh Nagar unit also hit out at the state government for its "wrong policies" on issues of inflation, health, education, industrial development.

India: Toddler raped by 13-year-old boy in UP

Ballia (UP), Mar 18 (PTI) A 13-year-old boy allegedly raped a two-year-old girl here after watching a pornographic film on a mobile phone, police said on Thursday.

She was living in her maternal grandparents' home in a village in Revati block, around 30 km from the district headquarters. The toddler had gone to a neighbour's house while playing on Tuesday evening where the teenager raped her, an officer said.

The boy had allegedly seen a pornographic film on a mobile phone before the incident, Revati police station incharge said.

India: Top Shia body appeals to SC to dismiss Rizvi's PIL

Lucknow, Mar 18 (PTI) The All India Shia Personal Law Board (AISPLB) appealed to the Supreme Court to dismiss the petition filed by former Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board chairperson Wasim Rizvi to remove 26 verses of the Quran.

The emergency meeting of the board's executive was held in Lucknow on Thursday and it demanded from the government to give harsh punishments to people like him who are disrespectful to any religion or its holy book.

India: Women feeling unsafe under BJP govt in UP: Akhilesh

Mathura, Mar 18 (PTI) Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday alleged that women were feeling unsafe under the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh.

He said the Hathras incident has moved the entire world but no worthwhile step has been taken by the state government for the safety and security of women.

While talking to reporters in Vrindavan, Yadav said the state government has "failed" to launch any new work in its four-year tenure.

India: Dalit woman raped for 2 years in UP's Mahoba

Banda (UP), Mar 19 (PTI) A 22-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly raped for two years by a man on the false promise of marriage here, police said on Friday.

The woman, who hailed from Mahoba district, lodged a complaint on Thursday evening at City Kotwali police station following which an FIR was registered against the accused.

She alleged that Utkarsh Sachan (25), who lived in her neighbourhood, had been raping her since the past two years on the promise of marriage, Station House Officer Jaishyam Shukla said.

India: Sunny weather restricts outing on the road

Kanpur:  Jajmau's widest road was not crowded in the afternoon as enough vehicles were not moving due to the clear sun. The shops alongside the road were open but the customers were scant.

When people were asked about the vacant road, they simply answered it was mainly because of the heat. The temperature of the day is rising every day. In a bid to avoid sun rays the activity remains low during the time 12.30 to 3.00 p.m.
