Turkey's first lady to roll out new book on visits to Africa

Emine Erdogan, who wrote about her impressions and memories of her travels to Africa, is flying with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to New York on Sunday to attend the UN General Assembly.

Israeli army arrests last 2 of 6 Palestinian prison escapees

JERUSALEM (AP) — The last two of six Palestinian prisoners who escaped a maximum-security Israeli prison two weeks ago were rearrested early Sunday, the Israeli military said.

The two were captured during an Israeli army raid in their hometown of Jenin in the occupied West Bank, closing an intense, embarrassing pursuit that exposed security flaws after the six tunneled out of their cell on Sept. 6.

Lebanon judge seeks arrest of ex-minister charged in Beirut blast

BEIRUT, Sept 18 (NNN-AGENCIES) — The lead judge investigating Lebanon’s massive port explosion last year has issued an arrest warrant for a former government minister who failed to appear for questioning, state media has reported.

Youssef Fenianos, the former public works minister, is one of several former government officials who have declined to appear before investigating judge Tarek Bitar.

A judicial source confirmed that the warrant was issued on Thursday.

Dozens of Palestinian protesters injured in clashes with Israeli soldiers in West Bank: medics

RAMALLAH, Sept 18 (NNN-Xinhua) — Dozens of Palestinian protesters were injured on Friday during clashes with Israeli soldiers in protest against the Israeli settlement in the West Bank, medics and eyewitnesses said.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a statement that 217 protesters were injured by Israeli soldiers, including 35 shot by rubber-coated metal bullets and 182 subjected to suffocation after inhaling tear gas.

Yemen’s gov’t complains to UNSC over Houthi attack on Mocha port

ADEN, Sept 18 (NNN-Xinhua) — Yemen’s government said that it had complained to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) over the Houthi attack on the Mocha port, a newly refurbished commercial seaport in the country’s southwestern part.

According to a statement released by the state-run Saba News Agency, the government raised its concerns to the UNSC regarding the recent Houthi shelling of Mocha port with four missiles and three explosive-laden drones.

Iran's president says "new chapter" emerging in Tehran-Dushanbe ties

TEHRAN, Sept. 18 (Xinhua) -- A new chapter is emerging in the relations between Iran and Tajikistan, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said on Saturday at a joint press conference with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon in the Tajik capital of Dushanbe.

Raisi described the cooperation agreements signed during the visit to Dushanbe as an evidence of the two countries' will to broaden relations.

Washington, Baghdad agree to reduce US troops in Iraq

18 Sep 2021; MEMO: Baghdad and Washington agreed on reducing the US combat troops in two military bases in Iraq by the end of September, Anadolu Agency reports.

According to an Iraqi army statement on today, the decision was made during a meeting of the joint military committee in Baghdad on Thursday, which also considered shifting the international coalition in Iraq to a non-combatant role by the end of this year.

The troops will be reduced in the US bases in the western Anbar and northern Erbil provinces.

Palestine: Hamas warns Israel against aggression on Jenin

18 Sep 2021; MEMO: The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas on Friday warned the Israeli occupation against "committing any aggression" on the West Bank city of Jenin, a statement announced.

In the statement, Hamas expressed: "We warn the Israeli occupation against committing any aggression on our families in Jenin, which is the stronghold of resistance in the occupied West Bank."

Hamas added: "Our people will stand united in support for our people in Jenin."

Cost of escaped Palestine prisoners manhunt hits $30m

18 Sep 2021; MEMO: On 6 September, the Israeli occupation launched its largest manhunt in history, searching for six Palestinian prisoners who escaped the high-security Israeli prison of Gilboa. The operation has so far cost $30 million, Sputnik reported on Friday.

For the 14th consecutive day, the Israeli army and the Shin Bet intelligence service joined forces with police to look for the escapees using drones and helicopters. They set up hundreds of checkpoints.

Egypt raises train platform ticket price by 300%

18 Sep 2021; MEMO: The Egyptian National Railways Authority has announced raising the price of train platform tickets by 300 per cent on all lines, Al Khaleej Online reported on Friday.

The National Railways Authority confirmed that the decision, which raises the price from one to three Egyptian pounds, will take effect on Thursday.
