Palestine: 6 escapees a priority in any prisoner swap: Hamas

18 Sep 2021; MEMO: Member of Hamas Political Bureau Khalil Al-Hayya announced on Friday that the six Palestinians who escaped from Gilboa Prison would be the priority in any potential prisoner swap.

Addressing worshippers at Friday prayer organised in front of the office of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Gaza, Al-Hayya stressed: "We will keep our promise."

Israel forces wound hundreds of Palestine protesters in West Bank

18 Sep 2021; MEMO: Israeli occupation forces on Friday wounded 217 Palestinians protesting against illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank, the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) disclosed in a statement.

The PRCS revealed that 217 protesters were injured, including 35 shot by rubber-coated metal bullets and 182 subjected to suffocation after inhaling tear gas.

Egypt, Bahrain Leaders Discuss Ethiopia’s Nile Dam Issue

CAIRO, Sept 17 (NNN-MENA) – Egyptian President, Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, met yesterday with Bahraini King, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh, where they discussed the latest developments of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), built on the Nile River, said the Egyptian presidency.

During the talks, the Bahraini king renewed his country’s solidarity and support for Egypt and Sudan, regarding the GERD issue, said Egyptian presidential spokesman, Bassam Rady.

Lebanon Receives Tanker Trucks Carrying Iranian Oil

BEIRUT, Sept 17 (NNN-NNA) – Lebanon yesterday received tanker trucks carrying Iranian gas oil, in a move aimed at easing energy shortages in the country, al-Manar local TV channel reported.

A vessel carrying Iranian oil docked in Syria on Sunday, and the oil was uploaded into trucks and sent by land to the Bekaa Valley.

Lebanon has been suffering from shortage of U.S. currency reserves, which deprives the country from importing its oil needs.

Palestine Condemns Israeli Opposition To Two-State Solution

RAMALLAH, Sept 17 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestine condemned the current Israeli government’s position of rejecting the two-state solution, and its attempts to undermine any opportunity to establish a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Palestinian foreign ministry said, the position of Israeli Prime Minister, Naftali Bennett, and Israeli Finance Minister, Avigdor Lieberman, “is part of the unilateral Israeli measures that aim at liquidating the Palestinian cause.”

Iran's FM expresses "full satisfaction" over SCO permanent membership

TEHRAN, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian voiced on Friday Iran's "full satisfaction" regarding the official launch of the procedures for Iran's accession to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in the SCO's summit in Tajikistan's capital Dushanbe.

"We are fully satisfied that the document of Iran's permanent membership in the SCO has been approved in Dushanbe by the (member states) leaders," Amir Abdollahian wrote on Twitter.

Iraq, U.S. agree to reduce combat units in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- The Iraqi Joint Operations Command (JOC) on Friday said that the Iraqi and U.S. military agreed to reduce combat units in two military bases in Iraq by the end of September.

The agreement was reached during a meeting held on Thursday in Baghdad between an Iraqi committee headed by JOC's Deputy Commander Lt. Gen. Abdul Amir al-Shammari and a U.S. committee headed by Maj. Gen. John Brennan, commanding general of the U.S.-led coalition forces in Iraq, a JOC statement said.

Israel soldiers break Palestinian physician's arm

17 Sep 2021; MEMO: Israeli soldiers assaulted a 46-year-old Palestinian physician from the town of Arraba southwest of Jenin following his detention last week and broke his arm.

According to the Wafa news agency, Nidal Arda found Israeli occupation forces in army jeeps surrounding his home after he returned from the mosque following dawn prayers.

"They were waiting at my house and apparently wanted to ambush me. The jeeps turned their lights on in my direction and then ordered me to come out of the car," he said.

US approves potential $500m in military support to Saudi Arabia

17 Sep 2021; MEMO: In news that is likely to be met in Riyadh with a sense of relief, a potential $500 million military support service for Saudi Arabia has been approved by the US State Department, the Pentagon said yesterday. The agreement has been sent to Congress for review.

The package would provide continued maintenance support services for a wide range of helicopters, including a future fleet of CH-47D Chinook helicopters. The announcement said the vendor was not yet known.

Hamas holds consultations on proposed municipal elections

17 Sep 2021; MEMO: Hamas is holding internal consultations regarding possible municipal elections announced by Palestinian Authority Prime Minister, Mohammad Shtayyeh, the movement's spokesperson said.

"We are holding consultations within the movement's framework regarding the Shtayyeh government's announcement of holding municipal elections, and we are also holding consultations with the rest of the Palestinian factions, because the announcement came unilaterally," Abdul Latif Al-Qanou said.
