Ex-Tunisia president says Kais Saied's mistakes may amount to high treason

04 Aug 2021; MEMO: Tunisia's former president Dr Moncef Marzouki stressed that the worst mistake made by the current President Kais Saied is that he caused division among the people and opened the door to foreign interference in the country's internal affairs which undermines the sovereignty of the state.

Sudan approves bill to join Rome Statute court

04 Aug 2021; MEMO: The Sudanese cabinet yesterday approved a draft law on the country's accession to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

"Today, in our weekly Cabinet meeting, we have unanimously passed a bill to join the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court," Prime Minister, Abdalla Hamdok, said on Facebook.

He pointed out that a meeting between the sovereignty council and the cabinet would be held "to pass that bill into law."

Qatar, PA agree on mechanism to transfer funds to Gaza

04 Aug 2021; MEMO: Qatar and the Palestinian Authority (PA) have reached a deal on the transfer of aid to the Gaza Strip after Hamas agreed to have the PA involved in the process, Israeli sources reported yesterday.

PA Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh was reported by Israeli media saying on Monday night that "the PA agrees to be responsible for transferring part of the Qatari grant to the Gaza Strip intended only for needy families."

Israel prepared for any scenario with Hamas in Gaza: DM Gantz

04 Aug 2021; MEMO: Israel is prepared for "any scenario" with Hamas in the Gaza Strip, including a ceasefire or military escalation, Defence Minister Benny Gantz said yesterday.

"Today I visited the [Israeli army's] Gaza Division and assessed the [security] situation," Gantz said on Twitter, adding that "Israel is ready for any scenario, whether settlement or [military] escalation."

(AP) --- The Biden administration encouraged lawmakers on Tuesday to finally repeal an authorization for military action in Iraq crafted when Saddam Hussein was still alive, rejecting Republican arguments it would further signal to Iran that the U.S. is retreating from the Middle East.

Debate in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on ending Congress’s 2002 resolution for military force against Iraq comes as part of a larger discussion by some lawmakers on axing or replacing decades-old congressional authorizations for military force.

Libya, Italy To Enhance Bilateral Ties In Various Fields
