Hamas condemns Germany's ban of its flag, symbols

26 June 2021; MEMO: The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas on Friday condemned Germany's ban of its flag and symbols in the country, linking it to a wave of alleged anti-Semitic violence.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Hamas Spokesperson Hazem Qasem stated: "We regret and condemn Germany's decision on the ban of the Hamas flag and symbols."

Qatar's world 400m bronze medallist Haroun dies in car crash

27 June 2021; MEMO: Qatari sprinter Abdalelah Haroun, who won the bronze medal in the 400 metres event at the 2017 World Championships, died on Saturday in a car accident, the global governing body of athletics said citing media reports, says Reuters.

He was 24 years old. The former world junior champion had been hoping to qualify for this year's Tokyo Olympics, though he was undergoing rehabilitation following an injury.

‘Like a hell’: Ethiopia airstrike survivors recall massacre

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (AP) — Maerg was serving customers at his cafe in Ethiopia’s Tigray village of Togoga when the military airstrike occurred, filling the room with dust and bringing down debris that struck him on the head.

“Everything was covered in black smoke, it was like a hell,” he told The Associated Press by phone, recounting one of the deadliest attacks in the Tigray conflict. “There was so much blood.”

Hezbollah Chief Accuses U.S. Of Inciting Divisions Among Lebanese

BEIRUT, Jun 26 (NNN-NNA) – Hezbollah leader, Hassan Nasrallah, yesterday, accused the United States of pitting the Lebanese army against his party, al-Manar TV channel reported.

“The U.S. statements, about supporting the Lebanese army to face Hezbollah aim at stirring sedition among the Lebanese,” Nasrallah said, in a televised speech.

The Hezbollah leader added that, his party has always been in favour of reinforcing the Lebanese army, which guarantees Lebanon’s security, integrity and unity against any Israeli aggression.

Iraq says not to hand over convicted foreign IS fighters until serving sentences

BAGHDAD, June 26 (Xinhua) -- The Iraqi Ministry of Justice said Saturday that the foreign militants of the Islamic State (IS) group who were convicted in Iraq will not be extradited to their countries until they serve their sentences in Iraqi prisons.

Ahmed Luaibi, spokesman of the ministry, told the official Iraqi News Agency that the militants arrested in accordance with the Iraqi anti-terrorism law will not be extradited, but ambassadors of their countries will be allowed to visit them in respect of human rights principles.

Israel approves 31 new 'settlement zones' in the West Bank

25 June 2021; MEMO: Israel has approved 31 zoning plans, each containing a small number of housing units or facilities, in the occupied West Bank, in the first such move since the new coalition government came into office on 13 June.

The move, which was passed on Wednesday, saw 18 of the construction plans receiving final approval in illegal settlements such as Alfei Menashe, Elkana, Havat Sde Bar and Yitzhar. The approval is the first of its kind in six months.

81 NGOs oppose Russia plan to close last aid crossing into NW Syria

25 June 2021; MEMO: Numerous non-governmental organisations carrying out aid missions in north-west Syria have issued a joint press release opposing the planned closure of the last crossing for humanitarian aid to enter the area, warning that it will threaten the lives of over four million Syrians.
