Yemen: Gov't of ex-Yemen president had secret ties with Israel: Houthis

18 Nov 2021; MEMO: The former Yemeni regime of Ali Abdullah Saleh maintained secret contact with Israel, Rai Al Youm online newspaper reported an official saying yesterday.

According to the Deputy Director of Moral Guidance Department for Media Affairs in the Houthi government, Brigadier Abdullah Bin Amer, Israel widened its operation and activities in Yemen during Saleh's time as president.

Israel couple detained in Turkey released, return home

18 Nov 2021; MEMO: Two Israelis detained last week in Turkey after they were reported for taking photos of the presidential palace in Istanbul were released and arrived in Israel on board a private jet sent by the Israeli government, local media reported this morning.

Husband and wife, Mordy and Natali Oknin, were detained last week after taking photographs for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's palace.

Qatar, Egypt sign deals to supply Gaza fuel, building materials

18 Nov 2021; MEMO: Qatar and Egypt have signed agreements to supply fuel and basic building materials to the Gaza Strip, which has been under strict Israeli siege for more than 15 years, the Qatari Foreign Ministry announced yesterday.

According to Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Soltan Bin Saad Al Muraikhi, these joint collaborative efforts will contribute to improving living conditions in Gaza.

Iraq warns Turkey of effects of dam on water levels

18 Nov 2021; MEMO: The Iraqi Ministry of Water Resources yesterday warned Turkey that its plan to build a new dam on the Tigris River would affect Iraq's share of the river's waters.

Ministry spokesperson, Ali Radi, said Turkish authorities had been contacted via the Foreign Affairs Ministry to warn them of the new project's impact on Baghdad's share of the river's water in terms of quantity and quality.

Palestine: PA denies plan to cut salaries of martyrs, prisoners in Israel jails

18 Nov 2021; MEMO: The Palestinian Authority (PA) yesterday denied Israeli claims that it would cut the salaries of the families of Palestinians killed by Israel and those detained in Israeli jails, Quds Press reported.

Speaking to the news site, PA spokesman Ibrahim Melhim said: "The PA has never and will never give up its obligations towards the Palestinian prisoners inside Israeli jails or the families of the Palestinians killed and wounded by Israeli occupation forces."

10 killed in Sudan's anti-coup protests

18 Nov 2021; MEMO: At least ten protesters were killed by the Sudanese army and others were wounded as thousands rallied yesterday against last month's military coup.

According to the Central Committee of Sudan Doctors (CCSD), 14 protesters were killed. "There are more than 80 wounded, a large number of them seriously, and they are between life and death," the CCSD said on Facebook, adding that some hospitals in the capital city of Khartoum were also "attacked".

Kuwait asks 100 expatriates, mostly Lebanese, to leave

17 Nov 2021; MEMO: Kuwait yesterday asked some 100 expatriates, mostly Lebanese citizens, to leave the country with their families as soon as their residency permits expire, Al-Qabas newspaper reported.

The paper said the State Security Authority had put the names of the expatriates on the black list of people who are prevented from renewing their residency permits once they expire.

Israel, Egypt discuss new proposal for prisoner swap with Hamas

17 Nov 2021; MEMO: Israel and Egypt are discussing a new proposal for a prisoner swap between Israel and the Palestinian resistance led by Hamas, Haaretz has revealed.

The daily newspaper said that Israeli and Egyptian officials are working on drafting an agreement which includes new solutions for issues Israel is concerned by.

Turkey: detained Israelis 'committed military and political espionage'

17 Nov 2021; MEMO: Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said on Tuesday that the two Israelis detained in Turkey last week "committed a crime of military and political espionage." The husband and wife were detained by the Turkish police after they were reported for taking photos of the presidential palace in Istanbul.
