Kuwait government resigns: Reports

08 Nov 2021; MEMO: Kuwait's government today submitted its resignation to the ruling emir, leading local newspapers Al Qabas and Al Rai reported, according to Reuters.

The government has been locked in a standoff with opposition lawmakers who have insisted on questioning Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah in the elected parliament.

Turkey, Syria regime deploy military to Aleppo

08 Nov 2021; MEMO:Turkey and the Syrian regime of President Bashar Al-Assad have recently deployed army reinforcements into the countryside of Aleppo, northern Syria, local media outlets reported.

According to reports, a Turkish convoy consisting of tanks, heavy artillery, personnel carriers and armoured vehicles entered the city of Al-Bab near Aleppo while army reinforcements have also been deployed to the Syrian-Turkish border opposite the city of Ayn Al-Arab (Kobani).

Israel is not ready for 'multifront war', ex-army general says

08 Nov 2021; MEMO: "Israeli army is not ready for a multifront war," retired Israeli Army Major General, Yitzhak Brick, said yesterday.

According to Megafon News website, Brick stressed that the next war Israel is potentially facing "will be internal", expecting the amount of destruction and losses from the next war to be very large.

Palestine: NGOs also designated 'terror groups' in occupied West Bank

08 Nov 2021; MEMO: The Chief of the Israeli army's Central Command signed an order on Sunday declaring six Palestinian NGOs to be "terrorist groups", Haaretz has reported. The same six organisations were designated as "terrorists" by Defence Minister Benny Gantz on 22 October.

Egypt places female political prisoner in cell with criminals, ENHR reports

08 Nov 2021; MEMO: The Egyptian Network for Human Rights has documented details of the arrest and violations against female political prisoner Tawqa Abdel Basser Abdullah.

Tawqa, 24, was arrested inside Helwan metro station on 9 June 2019 and then forcibly disappeared for 17 days.

A student at Cairo University, Tawqa was seen at the Supreme State Security Prosecution on 26 June 2019 and charged with being part of the "Coalition of Hope".

Amnesty slams settler playground attack on Palestinian children

08 Nov 2021; MEMO: Amnesty International has condemned an attack by Israeli settlers and soldiers against Palestinian children in a playground in the occupied West Bank village of Sussia near Hebron. The incident took place on Saturday, when Israeli soldiers prevented the children and their mothers from having access to the playground in their village.

The playground opened in September having been renovated. Repairs were made to eradicate safety issues.

Palestine slams Israeli refusal to reopen US consulate in Jerusalem

07 Nov 2021; MEMO: Palestine on Sunday decried the Israeli refusal to reopen a US consulate to serve Palestinians in occupied East Jerusalem, Anadolu reports.

On Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said there is no place for an American consulate to serve Palestinians in Jerusalem.

Bennett's statement is a "critical test for the US administration of Joe Biden," the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Kataib Hezbollah dismisses suggestions that Iraqi groups behind attack on PM

DUBAI, Nov 7 (Reuters) - A security official from the Iran-backed Kataib Hezbollah group in Iraq dismissed suggestions on Sunday that Iraqi groups were behind the attack on Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi.

"According to our confirmed information, no-one in Iraq has the desire to waste a drone on the house of a former prime minister," Abu Ali Al-Askari said on Telegram.

Kataib Hezbollah and other Iran-aligned militias in Iraq are among the groups that are hostile to Kadhimi.

Iran's military holds annual drills near mouth of Gulf

DUBAI, Nov 7 (Reuters) - Iran's military launched an annual exercise near the mouth of the Gulf on Sunday, Iranian state television reported, a few weeks before resumption of talks between Tehran and world powers to revive a 2015 nuclear deal.

"The military exercise in Iran's coast on the Gulf of Oman is to display the country's military might and readiness to confront our enemies," Admiral Mahmoud Mousavi, the spokesman for the Zolfaqar-1400 drill, told state television.
