Jordan FM: There's no way to resolve Syria crisis except through Assad

12 Nov 2021; MEMO: Jordan Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said the kingdom has resumed relations with the Syrian regime due to the absence of "any effective strategy to resolve the Syrian conflict".

In an interview with CNN, Safadi explained that Jordan's coordination with its partners and friends is once again an attempt to direct the movement towards an effective mechanism that would put an end to the Syrian crisis.

UAE to host COP28 in 2023

12 Nov 2021; MEMO: The ruler of Dubai said in a tweet yesterday the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been selected to host the COP28 international climate conference in 2023, Reuters reports.

"We will put all our capabilities to make the conference a success. The UAE will remain committed to global climate action to protect the planet," said Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, who also serves as prime minister of the UAE.

Israel: Gaza doctor seeks apology from Israel for daughters’ deaths

JERUSALEM (AP) — Izzeldin Abuelaish captured widespread sympathy in Israel when he lost three daughters and a niece in an Israeli strike during the 2009 war in the Gaza Strip. Now, the Palestinian doctor is seeking justice in Israel’s highest court.

Abuelaish is scheduled to appear before the Supeme Court in Jerusalem on Monday in hopes of receiving an apology from Israel and compensation for his loss.

Prominent Sudanese activist Mohamed Nagi Al-Assam arrested - doctors union

CAIRO, Nov 11 (Reuters) - Prominent Sudanese activist Mohamed Nagi Al-Assam was arrested on Thursday morning, the doctors union he was a member of said in a statement.

Al-Assam was a prominent figure in the country's 2019 uprising and has been a vocal critic of the Oct. 25 military takeover.

Sudanese judge urges end to post-coup internet blackout

CAIRO, Nov 11 (Reuters) - A Sudanese judge on Thursday ordered telecoms companies in Khartoum to explain why internet services are still cut more than two weeks after a military takeover and two days after a court said connections should be restored.

Mobile internet services across Sudan have been cut since the military seized power on Oct. 25. The suspension has hampered efforts by pro-democracy groups to mobilise for a campaign of civil disobedience and strikes against the coup.
