Lebanon tensions test Hezbollah-Aoun alliance

19 Oct 2021; MEMO: Worsening sectarian tensions in Lebanon are testing an alliance between Shia Hezbollah and its Christian ally, President Michel Aoun, who may lose ground to their rivals as they step up opposition to the Iran-backed group's influence, Reuters reports.

Analysts believe divisions that have deepened since an outbreak of violence in Beirut last week may play to the political advantage of Aoun's long-time Christian adversary, Samir Geagea, a Hezbollah opponent with close Saudi ties.

Palestine Condemns The Building Of New Israeli Settlement In The West Bank

RAMALLAH, Oct 17 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestine yesterday condemned the construction of a new Israeli settlement, on a Palestinian-owned land, south of the West Bank city of Nablus.

Establishing a new settlement “undermines the chances for making peace, based on the vision of the two-state solution,” the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, in a statement.

“The new project includes building a bus station for Israeli settlers, between Ramallah and Nablus, to facilitate their movement and link the settlement road network with Israel.”

Egypt to require virus vaccinations for civil servants

CAIRO (AP) — Egypt’s government will soon require public servants to have a vaccination certificate or show a weekly negative COVID-19 test before entering their workplaces.

The government announced the new measures late Sunday. It said the requirements will be applied starting November 15. The measures also require public to show proof of vaccination to enter government buildings starting December 1, according to a government statement.

Nine Israeli hospitals subjected to major cyberattacks

18 Oct 2021; MEMO: Nine Israeli hospitals and medical centres were subjected to major cyberattacks on Friday and Saturday, recording a 72 per cent increase of attacks compared to recent weeks, Arab48 reported on Sunday.

According to the National Cybersecurity Directorate in Israel, Kan public broadcaster reported that the Israeli hospitals and medical centres were subjected to hundreds of cyberattacks on Friday and Saturday.

Palestine: Hamas, PA condemn Israel's plan to build bus station in West Bank

18 Oct 2021; MEMO: The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas and the Palestinian Authority (PA) on Sunday condemned Israel's building of a large bus station in the occupied West Bank.

In a statement, Hamas announced: "Building an Israeli bus station near the West Bank city of Nablus is a new crime and Zionist oppression on the Palestinians."
