Turkey: Drunk man joins search party for himself

08 Oct 2021; MEMO: A drunken Turkish man spent hours combing through the forest in search of a missing person, only to discover the search team had been looking for him.

Last Tuesday, construction worker Beyhan Mutlu, 50, was reported missing after getting drunk on a night out and wandering into the forest.

After his worried wife was unable to reach him on his mobile phone and he didn't return home, she called the police.

Syria warns U.S.-backed militias to stop being agents for U.S. forces

DAMASCUS, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad on Thursday warned the U.S.-backed Kurdish militias to stop being agents for the U.S. forces in northeastern Syria.

Speaking during an interview with Syrian national TV, Mekdad said the U.S. forces must leave these areas, adding that the Syrian army will go there eventually.

The minister reiterated that the Syrian army will not abandon any part of Syria's territory, stressing that the U.S. and Turkish occupation forces should withdraw from Syrian lands.

Palestine, Egypt Discuss Peace Process With Israel

RAMALLAH, Oct 7 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, and his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, yesterday discussed by telephone, the readiness to resume peace and achieve calm with Israel.

The official Palestinian news agency said that, Abbas explained to al-Sisi the Palestinian side’s readiness to act under the auspices of the Middle East Quartet, which comprises the United States, Russia, the European Union, and the UN.

26 Israelis Arrested In Joint Operation With FBI For Alleged Forex Fraud

JERUSALEM, Oct 7 (NNN-PNN) – Israeli police said yesterday that, 26 Israelis were arrested, on suspicion of massive fraud, related to foreign exchange cryptocurrency transactions, in a joint operation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

The suspects allegedly conned “tens of millions of shekels” (millions of U.S. dollars) from dozens of American citizens, under the guise of digital forex trading, the police said, in a statement.

All of the suspects were arrested in Tel Aviv, it said.

Palestine: PA condemns court ruling for Jewish settlers to pray in Al Aqsa Mosque

07 Oct 2021; MEMO: The Palestinian Authority condemned on Wednesday an Israeli court ruling that allows Jewish settlers to perform their prayers in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem, Wafa has reported. The PA Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates described the ruling as "unprecedented".

Egypt renews pre-trial detention of prominent scholar's daughter

07 Oct 2021; MEMO: The Egyptian authorities yesterday renewed the pre-trial detention of Ola Al-Qaradawi for a period of 45 days. The daughter of prominent Islamic scholar Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi has already been detained for four years.

Al-Qaradawi's lawyer, Ahmed Abu El-Ela Madi, said that the extension was issued after allegations that she has "broadcast and published false news, as well as joined a terror group."
