PIA offers 22 percent discount for students on flights between Pakistan-China

BEIJING, Sep 14 (APP): Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has increased student discount from 10 percent to 15 percent and an additional 7 percent discount on surcharge making a total discount of around 22 percent on the flights between Pakistan and China.

The national flag carrier has also increased baggage allowance upto 80 kilograms for the students, an official of the airline told APP here on Wednesday.

U.S. weighs China sanctions to deter Taiwan action, Taiwan presses EU

TAIPEI/FRANKFURT/WASHINGTON, Sept 13 (Reuters) - The United States is considering options for a sanctions package against China to deter it from invading Taiwan, with the European Union coming under diplomatic pressure from Taipei to do the same, according to sources familiar with the discussions.

The sources said the deliberations in Washington and Taipei's separate lobbying of EU envoys were both at an early stage - a response to fears of a Chinese invasion that have grown as military tensions escalate in the Taiwan Strait.

China’s Xi visits Kazakhstan ahead of summit with Putin

NUR-SULTAN, Kazakhstan (AP) — Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday started his first foreign trip since the outbreak of the pandemic with a stop in Kazakhstan ahead of a summit with Russia’s Vladimir Putin and other leaders of a Central Asian security group.

Wearing a blue suit and a face mask, Xi was met on the airport tarmac by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and an honor guard, all of whom wore masks.

Xi’s trip underlines the importance Beijing places on asserting its role as a regional leader amid tension with Washington, Japan and India.

29 Malaysian duped by fake job offers in Cambodia to be brought home from end-Sept

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 13 (NNN-Bernama) — Twenty-nine Malaysians who were victims of fake job scams in Cambodia will be brought back to Malaysia in stages beginning end-September.

They are currently being detained by the immigration authorities in Cambodia.

Malaysia’s Palm Oil Stocks Rose To 2.09 Million Tonnes In Aug

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 12 (NNN-BERNAMA) – Malaysia’s palm oil stocks rose 18.16 percent from the previous month to 2.09 million tonnes in Aug, official data showed today.

According to the Malaysian Palm Oil Board, the world’s second largest palm oil producer, saw its crude palm oil production grow 9.67 percent month on month, to 1.73 million tonnes in Aug.

Palm oil exports slipped 1.94 percent month on month to 1.3 million tonnes in the same month.
