Chinese probe orbiting moon with Earth-bound samples

BEIJING (AP) — A Chinese probe was orbiting the moon on Monday in preparation for the returning of samples of the lunar surface to Earth for the first time in almost 45 years.

The ascent module of the Chang’e 5 spacecraft transferred a container with 2 kilograms (4.4 pounds) of samples after docking with the robot spacecraft on Sunday and was then cut free.

Dozens Quarantined After Coronavirus Found In Frozen Food In China

HARBIN, Dec 6 (NNN-XINHUA) – A total of 43 people were placed under quarantine, after a frozen-food sample in northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province tested positive for COVID-19, local authorities said.

Authorities in Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang Province, launched an emergency response after a third-party inspection agency found a frozen-food sample from a local trading company that tested positive for the virus on Friday.

As of 5.00 p.m. yesterday, 43 close contacts had been quarantined in designated places, and 109 were under observation at home.

South Korea tightens curbs in Seoul as COVID-19 cases hit 9-month high

Ex-Hong Kong lawmaker Ted Hui says accounts frozen after he sought exile

HONG KONG (Reuters) - Former Hong Kong lawmaker Ted Hui said on Sunday his local bank accounts appeared to have been frozen after he said he would seek exile in Britain to continue his pro-democratic activities.

Hui told Reuters via the social media Whatsapp that the banks accounts belonging to him, his wife and his parents in Bank of China Hong Kong, HSBC and Hang Seng Bank were frozen. He gave no further details.

Chinese probe prepares to return moon rocks to Earth

BEIJING (AP) — A Chinese probe that landed on the moon transferred rocks to an orbiter Sunday in preparation for returning samples of the lunar surface to Earth for the first time in almost 45 years, the space agency announced.

The upper stage of the Change’e lander blasted off Friday from the lunar surface. If the mission succeeds, it will make China the third country after the United States and former Soviet Union to bring moon rocks to Earth.

Chinese enterprise to set up gene and cell technology research centre in Pakistan

BEIJING, Dec 5 (APP): A Chinese enterprise in collaboration with a Pakistani partner will market its products as well as set up a gene and cell research and transformation center in Pakistan.

“Initially, Shenyang Biotech and Biomedicine Group will be marketing its products in Pakistan through Dynamic Engineering Automation Group and later on they will establish a research laboratory which will ultimately be transformed into a university,” said Badar Uz Zaman, Commercial Consular, Pakistan Embassy Beijing.
