BEIJING, July 10 (APP): China on Friday reiterated a continued support to Pakistan’s fight against COVID-19 pandemic and said the newly inaugurated Isolation Hospital and Infections Treatment Center (IHITC) would enhance the country’s capability to combat the coronavirus and other infectious diseases.

China refutes U.S. accusations over South China Sea military exercises

BEIJING, July 9 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese military spokesperson on Thursday refuted the accusations made by the U.S. Department of Defense over recent exercises conducted by the Chinese military in the South China Sea.

Ren Guoqiang, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of National Defense, said the U.S. side had completely disregarded the facts and confused right and wrong in an attempt to drive a wedge between regional countries and seek profits from it.

Japan braces for more heavy rain as death toll rises to 66

TOKYO (AP) — Parts of Japan still searching for missing people and evacuating those stranded by deadly floods and mudslides were bracing for more pounding rains through the weekend.

The death toll has risen to 66 as of Friday morning, with 16 others still missing, the Fire and Disaster Management Agency said. Most of them are in prefectures on Kyushu, Japan’s third-largest main island.

The damage has spread beyond Kyushu into central Japan’s scenic mountain villages known for hot springs and hiking.

WHO experts to visit China as part of COVID-19 investigation

BEIJING (AP) — Two World Health Organization experts will spend the next two days in the Chinese capital to lay the groundwork for a larger mission to investigate the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.

One animal health expert and one epidemiologist during their visit will work to fix the “scope and terms of reference” for the future mission aimed at learning how the virus jumped from animals to humans, the statement from the United Nations body said.

China, India to hold new round of commander level talks: FM

BEIJING, Jul 9 (APP): The border troops of China and India have been taking effective measures in disengagement, and the two sides will hold a new round of commander-level talks, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

“China and India will continue dialogue and communication through military and diplomatic channels and hold meeting of working mechanism for consultation and coordination on border affairs, Chinese Foreign ministry’s Spokesperson Zhao Lijian said while updating on the latest situation of China-India border standoff during his regular briefing held here.

Japan, Australian leaders share concern over East, South China Seas

TOKYO/SYDNEY (Reuters) - Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his Australian counterpart, Scott Morrison, shared serious concerns over various moves in the East and South China Seas in their video meeting on Thursday, a Japanese government spokesman said.

Asked at a media briefing if the two leaders’ concerns expressed in the meeting were directed to China, Japanese Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Naoki Okada declined to elaborate.

Australia too did not single out any particular country, though the meeting comes after several incidents involving China.

Chinese, Indian border troops taken 'effective measures' to disengage along LAC: China

Beijing, July 9 (PTI) China on Thursday said Chinese and Indian troops have taken "effective measures" to disengage at the Galwan Valley and other areas along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh and the situation is "stable and improving," days after the two sides agreed on an expeditious withdrawal of soldiers from all the standoff points.

China releases article exposing "U.S.-style human rights" hypocrisy

BEIJING, July 9 (Xinhua) -- The China Society for Human Rights Studies on Thursday published an article, laying bare the hypocrisy of "U.S.-style human rights" as evidenced by its extremely harsh immigration policies and violations of the basic rights and personal dignity of immigrants.

The religious, cultural and racial discrimination against immigrants has kept developing and become increasingly intense in the United States, said the article titled "Serious Discrimination Against and Cruel Treatment of Immigrants Fully Expose Hypocrisy of 'U.S.-Style Human Rights'."
