CAIRO, May 14 (NNN-MENA) – The General Authority for Educational Hospitals and Institutes in Egypt, announced that, 19 members of a medical care team in Matariya Educational Hospital, tested positive for COVID-19.   

The authority said that the 19 positive cases were out of 54 samples taken from the medical team.   

The outbreak happened in the hospital in East Cairo, when a nurse contracted the virus from her late father-in-law, who died due to COVID-19 complications, the statement added.

CAIRO, May 14 (NNN-MENA) – Egyptian Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, said that, the authorities will bring home more than 16,000 nationals stranded abroad, in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The flights, quarantine and the medical tests from May 3 to May 9, cost the government 28 million Egyptian pounds (1.78 million U.S. dollars), according to a government statement.

Earlier in the day, 311 Egyptians, stranded in Canada, arrived back by an exceptional EgyptAir flight, as part of the country’s efforts to bring home its nationals abroad.

MOSCOW, May 13. /TASS/: The first vaccines against the novel coronavirus may appear in Russia in late July, Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko stated on Wednesday during a plenary session of the Russian State Duma.

"I hope that in July, most likely in the last ten days of July, the first drugs will arrive," he said in response to a question by Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin. Earlier, Murashko noted that some drugs against the novel coronavirus may enter clinical practice in Russia over the next few weeks, with some of them replacing foreign drugs.

London, May 13 (PTI) The coronavirus lockdown began easing up in England on Wednesday, with workers unable to work from home able to head to work but advised to avoid public transport and opt for cycling, walking or driving as far as possible.

Under the step by step plan laid out by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in Parliament this week, people are now able to spend more time outside, meet one person outside of their own household in the outdoors and move home, as the government began easing some lockdown measures.

Kolkata, May 13 (PTI) A 76-year-old man from Bihar who had multiple age-related ailments died due to alleged negligence of a private hospital in Kolkata that denied admission suspecting him to be positive for COVID-19, his family members said on Wednesday.

Shahid Ahmad Yahya, a resident of Darbhanga, was brought to Kolkata on May 9 for admission to the Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals on the recommendation of the doctor who used to treat him, his son-in-law Mokhtar Alam told PTI.

WELLINGTON, May 13 (NNN-AGENCIES) — New Zealand reported no more COVID-19 cases for two consecutive days on Wednesday, with the total number of confirmed and probable cases remaining at 1,497, as the country is about to relax lockdown restrictions midnight.

Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield told a press conference the death toll remained at 21 in the country, and 1,042 cases have recovered from the virus.

Two people are receiving hospital treatment, but neither is in ICU, Bloomfield said.

RIYADH, May 13 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Saudi Arabia will enforce a round-the-clock nationwide curfew during the five-day Eid al-Fitr holiday later this month to fight the coronavirus, the interior ministry said, as infections spike.

The kingdom, which has reported the highest number of virus cases in the Gulf region, is scrambling to limit the spread of the deadly disease.
