Israel tried to prevent provision of aid to Iran during coronavirus

11 May 2020; MEMO: Israel has tried to thwart attempts to ease international sanctions imposed on Iran and prevent the delivery of humanitarian aid, Haaretz reported yesterday.

Quoting well-informed diplomatic sources the newspaper reported that Israel has sought to continue the policy of maximum pressure on Iran, even amid the coronavirus crisis, stressing that “even if there is humanitarian aid, it must be ensured that it is directed at countering the virus.”

Indian doctor in Kuwait dies from COVID-19

Dubai, May 11 (PTI) An Indian dentist in Kuwait has died from the novel coronavirus, becoming the country's second medical professional to succumb to COVID-19, according to a media report.

Dr Vasudeva Rao, 54, died on Saturday in Jaber hospital where he was undergoing treatment for coronavirus infection, news website timeskuwait.com reported.

India: Model Poonam Pandey booked for violating lockdown norms

Mumbai, May 10 (PTI) Model-cum-actress Poonam Pandey was on Sunday booked by Mumbai Police for violating the coronvirus-induced lockdown norms, an official said.

An FIR was registered against Panedy and a person accompanying her by the Marine Drive Police.

She was found roaming in her high-end car at Marine Drive without any reason, he said.

India: Former PM Manmohan Singh admitted to AIIMS

New Delhi, May 10 (PTI) Former prime minister Manmohan Singh was admitted to the AIIMS here on Sunday evening after he complained of uneasiness, sources said.

Singh, 87, is under observation at the cardio-thoracic ward of the premier hospital, they said.

"All his parameters are fine. He is under observation at the AIIMS," a source close to him said, adding that he was taken to the hospital after he complained of "uneasiness".

India: 2 migrant workers killed, 7 injured as truck overturns in UP

Gorakhpur/Lucknow, May 11 (PTI) Returning home to Uttar Pradesh from Telangana, two migrant labourers were killed and seven others injured after a truck they had hitched a ride on to take a break from walking overturned in Gorakhpur district on Monday, police said.

In another incident, a migrant worker cycling back to his native place in Bihar from Delhi died after being run over by a car in Lucknow on Saturday, they said.

UAE Sends Medical Aid To Sierra Leone In Fight Against COVID-19

Spain: Five players test positive for coronavirus, La Liga confirm

MADRID, May 11 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Five players from Spain’s top two leagues have tested positive for coronavirus, La Liga confirmed.

Players in Spain’s top-flight and Segunda division were allowed to carry out individual work at training grounds last week.

The move was the beginning of a staggered training programme, with the aim to restart competitive games in the middle of June.

La Liga insist identifying infected players through positive tests are part of that plan.
