India: Voices of dissent within Cong on Article 370

New Delhi, Aug 6 (PTI) A number of Congress leaders across the country have gone against the party's stand in Parliament on abrogation of the provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution in Jammu and Kashmir by supporting the Centre's move and a bill to bifurcate the state.

The Congress has strongly opposed the move and the bill to bifurcate the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union territories.

India: Woman alleges molestation on board Rajdhani

New Delhi, Aug 7 (PTI) A woman was allegedly molested on board the Delhi-Ranchi Rajdhani Express by a train ticket examiner and the pantry staff, prompting the railways to start an inquiry into the matter.

An acquaintance of the woman, who is a student, tweeted on Tuesday night, alleging that the victim was drugged by the railway staff.

India: RBI cuts interest rate by 35 bps, 4th in row

Mumbai, Aug 7 (PTI) The Reserve Bank on Wednesday cut key interest rate for the fourth consecutive time, as it reduces repo rate by 35 basis points to 5.40 per cent to boost the slowing economy.

The six-member monetary policy committee (MPC) also maintained the accommodative stance on the monetary policy.

Pakistan holds joint session of Parliament to discuss Kashmir issue

Islamabad, Aug 6; GANASHAKTI: Amid ruckus by Opposition lawmakers, Pakistan on Tuesday held a joint session of its Parliament to discuss its future course of action after India revoked Jammu and Kashmir's special status and proposed to bifurcate the state into two union territories.

National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser briefly adjourned the joint session after Opposition lawmakers disrupted the proceedings in the House, protesting that the day's agenda did not specifically mention Article 370 of the Indian Constitution.

India: Bengal Left parties rally against scrapping of Article 370

Kolkata, August 5; GANASHAKTI: Leaders of Left parties in West Bengal on Monday termed the scrapping of Article 370 of the Constitution as an "attack on the country's integrity, democracy and federal structure" as they took out a rally here accusing the Centre of "further complicating" the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Modi government on Monday took  decision by revoking Article 370 of the Constitution that grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

FM to attend OIC contact group meeting on Kashmir in Jeddah today

ISLAMABAD, Aug 6 (APP): The meeting of Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s contact group on Jammu and Kashmir is being held in Jeddah today (Tuesday) on the recent illegal developments regarding Indian Occupied Kashmir.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will lead the Pakistan delegation to the meeting, Foreign Office Spokesman Dr Muhammad Faisal said in a tweet with tag #KashmirBleeds.
