President Erdogan shares concerns over situation in IoK; assures support

ISLAMABAD, Aug 5 (APP): President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday shared his concerns on the developing situation in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK) and assured of Turkey’s steadfast support in this regard.

The prime minister, as part of outreach to the world leaders on the recent developments in Indian Occupied Kashmir, phoned the Turkish president and discussed the situation in IoK, PM office media wing in a press release said.

Changing IHK special status defiance of UNSC resolution: experts

LAHORE, Aug 05 (APP): Experts and analysts on Monday termed quashing of special status of Indian-held Kashmir (IHK) was a blatant violation of the international law and United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.

Talking to APP, analysts urged the government to move the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and take other steps as India had violated its own constitution, the UNSC resolutions and the international law by quashing the special status of held Kashmir.

India abolishes Kashmir's autonomous status

India removed Kashmir's special autonomous status from its constitution with a presidential decree on Monday. It also moved a bill to divide the Indian-administered part of Kashmir into two regions directly ruled by New Delhi.

Black day in constitutional history of India: Chidambaram on Article 370 move

New Delhi, Aug 5; GANASHAKTI: Terming the revoking of Article 370 a "catastrophic step", the Congress accused the BJP of taking the decision "for votes" and said it marks a "black day" in the constitutional history of India.

The government on Monday revoked Article 370 which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir and proposed that the state be bifurcated into two union territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

Indian SC directs Unnao rape survivor to be airlifted to Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 5 (PTI) The Supreme Court directed on Monday that the Unnao rape survivor, who suffered critical injuries when her car was hit by a truck last week, be airlifted from Lucknow and brought to New Delhi for better treatment at the AIIMS.

Minutes before the direction, the apex court had deferred the hearing on transfer of the woman and her injured lawyer, for further hearing on Friday as no one on behalf of their families appeared and sought the transfer.

India: Sensex cracks below 37,000-mark, tanks 531 points

India: Rape-accused Ex-BJP MLA Sengar to be produced in Delhi court

New Delhi, Aug 4 (PTI) Rape-accused Uttar Pradesh MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and his accomplice, Shashi Singh, are likely to be produced before a Delhi court on August 5.

The duo will be produced in the court in pursuance to an order by district judge Dinesh Sharma here.

The court has also issued production warrants against the other accused in the case for their presence on August 6.

India: Minor raped by teenager in UP

Banda (UP), Aug 5 (PTI) A 5-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a teenager in neighbouring Chitrakoot district, police said on Monday.

The incident took place on Saturday when the girl, who was playing outside her house, was lured by the 13-year-old and raped, they said.

Family members informed police following which the accused was detained.

Medical report of the girl has confirmed rape.

Security has been beefed up in the locality as the accused and rape survivor belong to different communities, police said.

Indian oppn parties meet to discuss security situation in J&K

New Delhi, Aug 5 (PTI) Leaders of opposition parties will raise the issue of the security situation in Kashmir in both Houses of Parliament and demand answers from the government, sources said.

A meeting of various opposition parties took place on Monday. It came at a time when the Union Cabinet was meeting amidst speculation that it will take a crucial decision on the state.
