India: Five days on, no trace of missing AN-32 of IAF

Itanagar, Jun 7 (PTI) There was no breakthrough in the search of the AN-32 aircraft of the Indian Air Force that went missing with 13 persons on board with operations continuing for the fifth day on Friday amid inclement weather, officials said.

IAF spokesperson Wing Commander Ratnakar Singh said despite inclement weather, the joint search operations by IAF, Army and local administrations were continued.

India: Two minor boys rape 12-year-old girl in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Jun 7 (PTI) Two minor boys allegedly raped a 12-year-old girl in Jharkhand's Lohardaga district, police said Friday.

According to the FIR filed by the father of the girl, the two boys aged 14-year and 16-year allegedly raped his daughter at Chhokta Rabanda village on Thursday, the police said here.

A case has been filed against the two accused under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and and various sections of the IPC, the police said, adding that both the boys have been arrested.

India: 11 convicted for raping woman in Dumka

Dumka (Jharkhand), Jun 7 (PTI) A local court Friday convicted 11 persons for raping a 19-year-old woman in Dumka district on September 6, 2017.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Pawan Kumar convicted the 11 accused in the case and fixed June 10 to pronounce the quantum of sentence.

According to the FIR lodged at Muffasil Police Station, the accused first demanded money and a mobile phone from the woman as "penalty" for her friend being a "non-tribal" and then all of them raped her.

India: Cops suspended after toddler's murder, NSA to be invoked

Aligarh (UP), Jun 7 (PTI) Amid outrage over the murder of a toddler here, authorities on Friday suspended five policemen for negligence and began proceedings to invoke the stringent NSA against the two men who allegedly killed her over a Rs 10,000 loan.

The decomposed body of the two-and-a-half-year-old was found in a garbage dump three days after she was reported missing by her family in Tappal township, police said.

India: 'Peer' held over teen's rape in J&K

Jammu, June 7 (PTI) A self-proclaimed 'peer' was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district, police said on Friday.

The accused, Qasim, 50, was evading arrest since he was booked on the charge of raping the teenager several times and impregnating her. A special team had tried to arrest Qasim earlier, but he frequently changed his location, an officer said.

Acting on a tip-off, the accused was arrested in Banihal in an operation conducted and supervised by senior police officers of the district, the police added.

Indian honour killing: Man arrested for killing sister's lover

Muzaffarnagar, Jun 8 (PTI) A man was arrested here for allegedly killing his sister's lover, police said on Saturday.

Manish along with his brother Shiv Kumar had shot dead Kuldeep (24) on Friday evening at Balipur village under Miranpur Police Station in the district.

He was arrested after a brief exchange of fire in which he sustained injuries, the police said, adding that the hunt for Shiv Kumar was on.

Militants attack kills 2 Afghan police, wounds 6 others

KABUL, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Two police were confirmed dead and six others injured after a group of Taliban insurgents stormed a security checkpoint in Pato district of Afghanistan's central province of Daikundi on Saturday, provincial police chief Ghulam Sakhi Ghafoori said.

A group of the armed insurgents, according to the official, targeted a checkpoint of police in Pato district early morning, triggering a gun battle which killed two policemen and injured six others.

PAK: President strongly condemns terrorist incident in N Waziristan

ISLAMABAD, Jun 07 (APP): President Dr Arif Alvi on Friday strongly condemned a terrorist incident in North Waziristan that resulted in martyrdom of three officers and a soldier of Pakistan Army.

The President, in a statement, said miscreants were against the restoration of peace in the area, however, the nation was united against them.

He prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace and for the grant of courage to the bereaved families.

Minor abducted, raped in Rajasthan's Bikaner

Jaipur, Jun 7 (PTI) A 15-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped by two youths in Rajasthan's Bikaner district, police said Friday.

Family members of the girl have lodged a complaint against Pannaram Meghwal (21) and Manglaram Meghwal (20), both residents of Nagaur district, in this regard.

Nokha DSP Mehmood Khan said the incident allegedly took place on June 5, when the bike-borne youths forcibly took the girl to a secluded place.
