Huge cache of arms and ammunition seized in Delhi, 3 arrested

New Delhi, Feb 22 (PTI) Three people, including two women, suspected to be close aides of the Neeraj Bawana gang were arrested and police seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition from outer north district's Bawana area, an official said Friday.

The accused were identified as Virender, Nirmala and Kirti, all residents of Sultanpur Dabas village, he said.

India: Centre asks states to provide security to Kashmiris after SC's direction

New Delhi, Feb 22 (PTI) The Centre late Friday night asked all states to ensure security of people belonging to Jammu and Kashmir amid reports that some of them were attacked in different parts of the country in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack.

This was conveyed by the Home Ministry in an advisory to all states following a directive of the Supreme Court, which took up a petition in this regard.

Pakistan does not want war with India, says military spokesman

ISLAMABAD, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Pakistani military on Friday rejected India's allegations over a recent attack in the India-controlled Kashmir and also called for peace as the country doesn't want to have a war with its neighbor.

The comments by the military spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor, chief of the army's Inter-Services Public Relations, came amid the tension between Pakistan and India after a suicide attack which killed 40 Indian paramilitary troopers in the India-controled Kashmir.

Oxygen paucity leads patients puff at Hallet

KANPUR: There was confusion at the paucity of oxygen at the emergency block of Hallet Hospital on Thursday. The attendants were worried at this odd situation for the patients’ gulp of air started reducing at the intensive care unit. It was later known that the low pressure in the supply of the oxygen. It arose because of the decreasing quantity of the oxygen level in the cylinders.

India to cut water to Pakistan as Kashmir conflict escalates

22 Feb 2019; DW: India's infrastructure minister, Nitin Gadkari, announced on Twitter on Thursday that his country had "decided to stop our share of water which used to flow to Pakistan."

The announcement came as tensions between India and neighboring Pakistan continued to soar in the wake of a deadly terror attack in the disputed Kashmir region last Thursday.

India blames Pakistan for the attack, which killed 40 paramilitary soldiers, whereas Pakistan denies any involvement.

Imran Khan asks Pak military to 'respond decisively' to any Indian 'aggression or misadventure'

Islamabad, Feb 21; PTI/GANASHAKTI:  Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday authorised the military to "respond decisively and comprehensively to any aggression or misadventure" by India, amidst heightened tensions between the two sides following the Pulwama terror attack that killed 40 CRPF soldiers.

Days after the terror strike by Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad terror group in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said security forces have been given free hand to avenge the dastardly act.

IOC 'suspends discussions' with India for hosting global events

New Delhi, Feb 22 (PTI) The International Olympic Committee has decided to "suspend all discussions" with India regarding hosting of global sporting events after Pakistani shooters were not issued visas for the World Cup in New Delhi.

The Olympic committee also revoked the Olympic qualification status for the men's 25m rapid fire event from the New Delhi World Cup due to denial of visas to the Pakistani shooters in the wake of last week's Pulwama terrorist attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed.

Court summons Rahul Gandhi, Yechury over comments on Lankesh murder

Mumbai, Feb 21 (PTI) A metropolitan magistrate's court here has issued summons to Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury after a defamation complaint was filed by an RSS worker for allegedly linking journalist Gauri Lankesh's murder with "BJP-RSS ideology".

RSS worker and lawyer Dhrutiman Joshi had filed a private complaint in the court in 2017 against Rahul Gandhi, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, the CPI (M) and its general secretary Yechury.

India: 3 awarded 10 year's jail for raping minor girl

Balasore (Odisha) Feb 20 (PTI) A local court Wednesday sentenced three people to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment in connection with the rape of a minor girl for four years.

She was raped between 2010 and 2013 during her stay at a short-stay home here, and when she became pregnant, they terminated it.
