India: SC asks Ramdev to place original record of his statement on allopathy

New Delhi, Jun 30 (PTI) The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked Baba Ramdev to place before it the original record of his statement on the use of allopathic medicine during COVID-19 pandemic.

What is the original thing which he has said? You have not placed the whole thing, a bench headed by Chief Justice N V Ramana asked senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, who was appearing for the yoga guru.

Rohatgi told the bench, also comprising Justices A S Bopanna and Hrishikesh Roy, that he would file the original video along with the transcript.

China’s manufacturing softens in June amid export weakness

BEIJING (AP) — Growth in China’s manufacturing activity softened in June as export demand weakened and producers struggled with supply bottlenecks, a survey showed Wednesday.

The monthly purchasing managers’ index issued by the national statistics agency and an industry group declined to 50.9 from May’s 51.0 on a 100-point scale on which numbers above 50 show activity increasing.

Measures of new export orders, production and factory gate prices declined.

IMF chief proposes appointment of PBOC Deputy Governor Li Bo as deputy managing director

WASHINGTON, June 28 (Xinhua) -- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on Monday announced her proposal to appoint Li Bo, currently deputy governor of the People's Bank of China (PBOC), as IMF deputy managing director.

Georgieva made the announcement to the IMF Executive Board about three weeks after she said Deputy Managing Director Zhang Tao intends to conclude his service when his five-year term expires in August. Li's proposed appointment is to be effective Aug. 23.

Indian Covishield vaccine not approved in EU, Poonawalla hopes issue be resolved

New Delhi, Jun 28 (PTI) Vaccine major Serum Institute of India chief executive officer Adar Poonawalla on Monday said he has taken up the issues faced by Indians who have taken the Covishield jab travelling to the European Union at highest levels and hoped to resolve them soon.

Covishield is the Oxford University-AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured in India by the Pune-based vaccine maker.

India: Twitter interim grievance officer quits

New Delhi, Jun 27 (PTI) Twitter's interim resident grievance officer for India has stepped down, leaving the micro-blogging site without a grievance official as mandated by the new IT rules to address complaints from Indian subscribers, according to a source.

The source said that Dharmendra Chatur, who was recently appointed as interim resident grievance officer for India by Twitter, has quit from the post.
