25 May 2020; MEMO: Iran ignored warnings of retaliation from the US as the first of five Iranian tankers entered Venezuela’s exclusive economic zone on Saturday.

The tanker, named Fortune, reached the Venezuela’s territorial waters at around 7:40 pm after passing north of  Trinidad and Tobago in the Carribean, according to vessel-tracking data.

25 May 2020; MEMO: Saudi Arabia’s finance minister Mohammed al Jadaan said on Sunday that the kingdom’s economy is solid and has the ability to deal with the coronavirus crisis despite the need to cut spending, Reuters reports.

“The Saudi economy is able to absorb the decline in revenues and to deal with budget deficit,” he said in a statement published by the state news agency.

Referring to the problems that coronavirus outbreak has brought about for the economy of the world, the two presidents stressed that the borders of Iran and Turkey should reopen to resume trade.

New Delhi, May 23 (PTI) A day after the RBI projected economic contraction in 2020-21, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday said future fiscal policy actions to stimulate the economy will depend on how COVID-19 pandemic pans out.

Colombo, May 24 (PTI) Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has requested India to provide a special USD 1.1 billion currency swap facility to boost the country's draining foreign exchange reserves in view of the economic slowdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Rajapaksa's office said that the new request is in addition to the USD 400 million amount Sri Lanka has sought from the Indian government under the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) framework.

New Delhi, May 24 (PTI) As India is set to resume its domestic civil aviation operations from May 25, the Delhi airport will be handling around 380 flights on Monday, a senior official said.

As per the directions of the Civil Aviation Ministry, domestic flight operations will resume after remaining suspended for about two months following the nationwide lockdown imposed to constrain the COVID-19 pandemic.

KANPUR: Although the leather industry was given permission to start production on zero pollution principle yet the small traders linked with the business are finding it quite difficult to deliver various ready-made items needed to complete the finished goods.

Lamenting over the lockdown staying for the past two months, one trader said that the tanneries had been opened but we were not able to carry on our supply. One or other drawbacks hinder our movement amid the continuing lockdown.

He further added how could we then celebrate the festival of Eid.
