Road crash in N. Algeria kills 6, injures 9

ALGIERS, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Six people were killed and nine others injured after a truck collided with a bus in the northern Algerian province of Djelfa on Friday, Algeria's Civil Protection Authority said in a statement.

Ambulances and rescue teams rushed to the scene after the accident took place near the city of Ain Oussara, according to the emergency response service.

The injured people have been taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, it added, without elaborating on the cause of the accident.

Algeria announces further reduction in oil production by 20,000 barrels per day

This comes in compliance with the agreement to limit the production by the 13 members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and 11 other non-OPEC members, known as OPEC+.

Wildfires across Algeria have killed 25 people, including 10 soldiers who were battling the flames

ALGIERS, Algeria (AP) — Wildfires raging across Algeria have killed 25 people, including 10 soldiers trying to get the flames under control in the face of high winds and scorching summer temperatures, government ministries said Monday.

At least 1,500 people were evacuated, the Interior Ministry said, without providing details.

The Interior Ministry announced 15 deaths and 24 injuries. In addition, the Defense Ministry later announced 10 soldiers were killed and 25 injured as they fought fires in the resort area of Beni Ksila east of the capital Algiers.

Algeria applied to join BRICS, offered $1.5bn; president

Algeria: Ex-PM and ex-health minister given 5-year jail terms

The sentences relate to a corruption case.

Algeria President visits Russia

13 June 2023; MEMO: Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, started a 3-day official visit to Russia on Tuesday for talks on boosting bilateral cooperation, Anadolu Agency reports.

In a statement, the Algerian Presidency said the visit comes upon an invitation from Russian President, Vladimir Putin, for talks on strengthening cooperation between Algeria and Russia.
