Israel settlers install barbed wire around Palestinian home in Sheikh Jarrah to seize it

21 Jan 2022; MEMO: Israeli settlers, today, fenced off a plot of land in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood of East Jerusalem, reported Wafa news agency.

Along with deputy Jerusalem Mayor, Arieh King, and heavily armed Israeli forces, the settlers barged into the neighbourhood, where they re-installed barbed wire around a plot of land in preparation to seize it.

The land belongs to the Salem family; one of the families that are threatened with forced expulsion from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah.

"The distance between the two houses is passed in two minutes, but at the time, it felt like a year," he told Anadolu Agency.

Jerusalem Salhiah family to bring home demolition case to ICC

21 Jan 2022; MEMO: Lawyers acting on behalf of the Salhiah family of Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood in East Jerusalem have confirmed that they will be taking their case to the International Court of Justice (ICC). Their case is one of several to be brought court by Bindmans Solicitors partnering with the International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP), London.

Last week, the Salhiah family were attacked by Israeli occupation forces, beaten, arrested and detained. Their home was also demolished.

Palestinian president unanimously gains Fatah's confidence as PLO chairman

RAMALLAH, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday was unanimously supported by the Fatah party's central committee to continue as chairman of Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and Fatah Movement, the Palestinian official news agency WAFA reported.

During a meeting held in the West Bank city of Ramallah, Abbas gained the full confidence of the Fatah central committee to take the helm of the state of Palestine, WAFA said.

Jerusalem: Al-Azhar Sheikh and King Abdullah condemn house demolition

20 Jan 2022; MEMO: The Grand Imam of Al Azhar in Cairo, Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb, has joined with Jordan's King Abdullah to call for an end to Israeli violations against the Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem, especially in Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood, Anadolu has reported. The two men discussed the issue during a telephone call following the demolition of the Salehiyah family home in Sheikh Jarrah on Wednesday morning and the detention of family members.

Two PLO factions boycott Palestinian National Council's meetings

20 Jan 2022; MEMO: The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command– and the Vanguard of Popular Liberation War – Lightening Forces– announced on Wednesday they would boycott the Palestinian National Council's (PNC) meetings scheduled to be held in Ramallah.

In a statement, the two factions said that the rebuilding of the PLO and holding the PNC should be based on the outcomes of the meeting of secretariats of the Palestinian factions held recently in Lebanon.

Israel settlers attack Palestinians across West Bank

19 Jan 2022; MEMO: Dozens of Israeli settlers on Tuesday evening, organised marches across the West Bank, attacking Palestinian vehicles and threatening to attack nearby homes.

Dozens of extremist settlers gathered near the northern entrance to the town of Al-Bireh in the occupied West Bank under the protection of the Israeli forces and organised a march near the homes of citizens, threatening to aggressively attack nearby homes and vehicles.

Palestine: Forestation in Negev to continue: Israel minister

15 Jan 2022; MEMO: Forestation in the Negev region is set to continue with the government refusing to discuss the issue, aides close to Israeli Housing and Land Minister Ze'ev Elkin have confirmed, reported Sama News Agency on Friday.

Since Friday, the Jewish National Fund (JNF), in cooperation with the Israeli government, has been grading the land of Arab residents of Israel (Palestinians who did not leave their lands in 1948) and planting trees.

14 Jan 2022; MEMO: Hamas Spokesperson Hazem Qasem asserted on Friday that the uprising in the Negev region demonstrates that the Zionist occupation cannot defeat the Palestinians despite using all of its "colonial tools".

"Using all of its colonial tools, the Zionist Israeli occupation failed to uproot our people from the Negev," Qasem avowed in a statement.

80-Year-Old Palestinian-American Found Dead After Israeli Army Raid In West Bank

RAMALLAH, Jan 13 (NNN-WAFA) – An 80-year-old Palestinian man, who holds an American citizenship, was found dead yesterday, following his arrest by the Israeli army in the West Bank, medics said.

The Palestinian Health Ministry, said that, Omar As’ad’s body was found in the village of Jiljilya, before he was moved to the emergency room at a Palestinian medical compound.

A local doctor, who tried to resuscitate the Palestinian man but found no pulse, said that, it is possible that he suffered a heart attack or some form of panic, according to media reports.
