Israel agree to reunion of 1,000 Palestinian families: PA

30 Dec 2021; MEMO: Head of the Palestinian Authority (PA)'s General Commission of Civil Affairs, Hussein al Sheikh, announced on Wednesday that Israel had agreed to the reunion of 1,000 Palestinian families.

On twitter, Al Sheikh wrote: "This is the second batch of reunification agreement which covers all Palestinian governorates."

Meanwhile, Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post reported that Defence Minister Benny Gantz agreed on 9,500 cases.

PA president asks Israel to strengthen him politically in return for halting ICC probe

30 Dec 2021; MEMO: Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has asked Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz to strengthen him "politically" in return for ending Palestinian efforts to have Israel tried for war crimes at the International Criminal Court (ICC), the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation (Kan) reported on Wednesday.

Earlier on Tuesday, Abbas made a rare visit to Israel where he met with Gantz at his home in the central town of Rosh HaAyin amid Palestinian rejection, Palestinian and Israeli sources reported.

Unemployment Rate In Hamas-Ruled Gaza Exceeds 50 Percent: Palestinian Official

GAZA, Dec 29 (NNN-WAFA) – A Palestinian official announced yesterday that, the unemployment rate in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip has exceeded 50 percent in 2021, with more than 250,000 Palestinians unemployed.

Maher al-Taba’a, director of the Chamber of Commerce in Gaza, said in a statement that, an earlier World Bank report showed that the Gaza Strip, one of the most densely populated areas in the world, has the world’s highest unemployment rate.

Israel demolishes Palestinian house in occupied Jerusalem, displaces 23 people

28 Dec 2021; MEMO: The Israeli occupation authorities demolished on Tuesday a Palestinian-owned three-story house in al Isawiyyeh neighbourhood of occupied East Jerusalem displacing 23 people, local news agencies reported.

Owner of the house, Nidal Yassin Mustafa, said that the municipality staff protected by the Israeli occupation police surrounded the area where the building is located and demolished the building under the pretext it had been built without a permit.

Qatar, PA agree to supply Gaza's power plant with Israeli gas

27 Dec 2021; MEMO: Qatar, the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Gaza's electrical company agreed on Sunday to advance a long-term project to supply Gaza's power plant with Israeli gas, a statement said.

The statement, issued by Qatar's envoy to the Gaza Strip, Mohammad al Emadi, stated that his country had signed a memorandum to invest $60 million to establish a pipeline to convey Israeli gas to Gaza's power plant.

Israel refuses to provide evidence for banning Palestinian rights groups

28 Dec 2021; MEMO: The Israeli occupation authorities have failed to provide evidence for outlawing six Palestinian human rights and civil society groups, the Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel (Adalah) said on Tuesday.

"The organisations have not received any of the evidentiary materials that the Israeli authorities purport to justify this draconian and sweeping measure," Adalah said in a statement.

Israeli forces attack peaceful protest against violence of Israeli settlers

27 Dec 2021; MEMO: Israeli occupation forces attacked, on Sunday evening, a peaceful Palestinian demonstration organised against the violence of Israeli settlers, Wafa news agency reported.

According to sources, who spoke to Wafa, the Israeli occupation forces opened fire at the Palestinian protesters and threw gas canisters at them.

1st case of Omicron variant recorded in Gaza: official

GAZA, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Hamas-run health ministry announced on Sunday that it has recorded the first Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Health ministry official Majdi Dhair confirmed the infection during a press conference at al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza city. He said the infection had shown the Omicron variant was "present and widespread in the society."

The Gaza Strip "is on the verge of a difficult stage and a powerful fourth wave, as expected," he added.

Israeli settler runs over, kills elderly Palestinian woman in West Bank

25 Dec 2021; MEMO: An Israeli Jewish settler on Friday rammed his vehicle into an elderly Palestinian woman and killed her at the entrance of the town of Sinjil, northeast of the West Bank city of Ramallah, Safa news agency reported.

Local sources told Safa that the Israeli Jewish settler rammed his car into the woman while she was waiting for a taxi with her husband.

The attack, according to the sources, killed the woman immediately, and the assailant settler fled the area very fast.

Palestine calls for UN protection against Israeli settlers’ assaults in West Bank

RAMALLAH, Dec 24 (NNN-Xinhua) — Palestine called on the United Nations Security Council to protect the Palestinian people against the Israeli settlers’ assaults in the West Bank.

The Palestinian presidency said in a press statement that it urges the international community, especially the UN Security Council, “to urgently intervene to provide international protection for the Palestinian people.”
