Palestine Counts On Mobilising UNGA Support For Saving Mideast Two-State Solution

RAMALLAH, Sept 22 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestine is counting on mobilising the support of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), for the Palestinian cause and saving the two-state solution, which is threatened by Israeli policies, Palestinian media reported yesterday.

Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, who is currently in New York to participate in the 77th session of the UNGA, held a series of meetings with UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, Jordan’s King Abdullah II, Spain’s Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez and Norway’s Foreign Minister, Anken Hoetfeldt.

Palestine: Illegal Israeli settlers form 'militia' in occupied West Bank

21 Sep 2022; MEMO: Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank have apparently formed a militia to carry out night operations against the Palestinians, the official Kan broadcaster has reported. The so-called "Civil Guard", it is claimed, will help the Israel occupation army.

Settlers launched a night patrol on Route 60 on Monday night. The road passes through the Palestinian town of Hawara, south of Nablus.

Palestine: 74% of Palestinians do not want Abbas as president; Poll

22 Sep 2022; MEMO: Three-quarters of Palestinians do not want Palestinian Authority (PA), Fatah and PLO President Mahmoud Abbas as their president, Al-Resalah newspaper reported yesterday.

According to the news site, the poll was conducted between 13-17 September, ahead of Abbas' speech before the UN General Assembly this week.

It found that 26 per cent of the respondents are content with Abbas, while 71 per cent are not.

Palestine Condemns Israel’s Decision To Deduct Tax Revenue Dues

RAMALLAH, Sept 21 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestine, yesterday, condemned the Israeli decision to deduct 2.9 million U.S. dollars from the Palestinian tax revenue dues that Israel collects, on behalf of the Palestinian Authority (PA).

On Monday, Israeli Defence Minister, Benny Gantz, signed an order to deduct 2.9 million U.S. dollars from the Palestinian tax revenue dues. The sum is transferred by the PA to Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, according to Israeli media reports.

Israel occupation forces arrest Director of Al-Aqsa Mosque

20 Sep 2022; MEMO: The Israeli occupation forces yesterday detained the Director of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Omar Al-Kiswani, reported Wafa news agency.

According to local witnesses, the soldiers raided his home, based in Al-Tur neighbourhood in East Jerusalem, before taking him into custody.

The Israeli soldiers confiscated a computer and a number of documents during the raid, without stating any reason for his arrest.

Palestinian students launch strike to protest Israeli curriculum in classrooms

20 Sep 2022; MEMO: Palestinian students in occupied East Jerusalem launched a full-day strike from school yesterday to protest the forceful imposition of the Israeli curriculum in their schools by the Israeli occupation's Ministry of Education.

The strike was called for by the Parents' Committee Union in a joint press release on Sunday and supported by all Palestinian factions and civil society organisations who are calling on international institutions to step in and protect Palestinian education.

Palestine: Senior Fatah member kidnapped amid efforts to find Abbas' successor

21 Sep 2022; MEMO: Sources have reported that a conflict within the Palestinian Authority has led to an unknown group kidnapping the head of the office of Major General Tawfiq Al-Tirawi, a member of the Fatah Central Committee.

The sources told Arabi21 that an unknown group kidnapped the head of Tawfiq Al-Tirawi's office on Monday, in the context of disputes between the various wings of the PA, represented by Hussein Al-Sheikh on one side and Al-Tirawi on the other.

Palestinian PM Says Israel Defies Peace Agreements, Disrespects Int’l Law

RAMALLAH, Sept 18 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestinian Prime Minister, Mohammed Ishtaye, yesterday, accused Israel of defying all the signed peace agreements and disregarding international law.

He made the remarks during the annual grape festival, held in the West Bank city of Hebron, urging the Israeli government to stop all its violations in Palestinian territories, according to a Palestinian statement.

“The occupation (Israel), violates all the signed peace agreements with disrespect, and does not respect the law and international legitimacy,” Ishtaye was quoted as saying.
