Israeli security forces uproot 100 olive trees in occupied West Bank

30 August 2022; MEMO: Israeli occupation forces uprooted 100 olive trees on Monday in the vicinity of Sair, east of the occupied West Bank city of Hebron, Anadolu has reported.

The Mayor of the Palestinian town, Mousa Al-Faroukh, said that the Israeli forces uprooted the trees in order to take over the Palestinian-owned land and get it ready for its de facto annexation by the illegal Jewish settlement of Asfar. The army, he added, wants the land for an additional watchtower for the settlement.

Israel forces sexually harass Palestinian minors in prisons: Report

30 August 2022; MEMO: Palestinian minors being held in Israeli jails have been subjected to sexual harassment by officers from Israeli Nahshon Battalion, Quds Press reported yesterday.
According to the news site, the PLO's Commission for Prisoners and Freed Prisoners reported that several minors detained in Maggedo Prison "had been subject to sexual harassment by officers from Israeli Nahshon forces."

The detained boys said "they had been harassed intentionally by the Nahshon forces several times."

Palestine Condemned Jewish Settlers For Breaking Into Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound

RAMALLAH, Aug 29 (NNN-WAFA) – The Palestinian foreign ministry, yesterday condemned Israeli Jewish settlers, for breaking into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, through a gate that Palestinian media said, was “solely used by Muslims” in the Old City of Jerusalem.

This is the first time that the Israeli police have allowed Jewish settlers to enter the Islamic holy site through the Lions’ Gate, one of the gates leading to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, according to an earlier report.

“This unprecedented step is a blatant violation of the Mosque’s status quo,” said a ministry statement.

Palestinian toll mounts as Israel steps up West Bank raids

TUBAS, West Bank (AP) — At least 85 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank this year as Israeli forces have carried out nightly raids in cities, towns and villages, making it the deadliest in the occupied territory since 2016.

The military says the vast majority were militants or stone-throwers who endangered the soldiers. The tally, from the Palestinian Health Ministry, includes Palestinians who carried out deadly attacks inside Israel.

Israeli court extends detention of Islamic Jihad leader Bassam al-Saadi

29 August 2022; MEMO: An Israeli military court extended on Sunday the detention of senior Islamic Jihad leader Bassam al-Saadi, from the West Bank city of Jenin, until Wednesday, Palestine Prisoners' Club (PPC) said.

The PCC said in a brief statement that the Israeli military court in Ofer Prison in the occupied West Bank postponed its sentence against Al-Saadi to 31 August.

US-based Evangelical Christian group seizes Palestinian land

26 August 2022; MEMO: US evangelical group HaYovel has recently sent letters to its supporters raising funds to plant 3,000 trees by the end of this year as part of the "Make Israel Green" project which aims to plant trees on land seized from Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

The organisation has already planted a forest in the illegal Har Brakha settlement, south of Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank.

Palestinian Christians 'terrorised' by Israeli forces in church raid

24 August 2022; MEMO: The Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East has condemned a "flagrant" raid by Israeli occupation soldiers of its church in Ramallah in the occupied West Bank. The unannounced and unwarranted raid on the premises of St Andrew's Anglican/Episcopal Church was conducted by Israeli soldiers in the early hours of Thursday at around 3am local time.

Hamas, Islamic Jihad Met In Gaza, Vowed Resistance To Israeli Occupation

GAZA, Aug 23 (NNN-WAFA) – Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), yesterday held a joint meeting in the Gaza Strip, weeks after deadly Israeli strikes against the PIJ in the Palestinian enclave, vowing to support each other’s resistance against the Israeli occupation.

The meeting, attended by members of the two factions’ political and military leaders, was “positive,” Khader Habib, a senior PIJ leader, said, adding, Hamas and PIJ agreed to strengthen ties to support “the two groups’ strategy of resisting Israeli occupation.”

Palestinian rights group wants international protection for staff

22 August 2022; MEMO: A well-known Palestinian rights group called on Monday for the international community to intervene immediately to protect Palestinian civil society groups and their staff targeted by the Israeli occupation authorities. The heads of leading rights groups in occupied Palestine have been told by Israel's internal security agency Shin Bet to sever their connections with the organisations "or else".
