Jordan condemns Israel over stopping Dome of the Rock repairs

26 Jan 2021; MEMO: Jordan on Monday condemned Israel's stopping renovation works at the Dome of the Rock mosque at Al-Aqsa compound in East Jerusalem, Anadolu reports.

On Sunday, Israeli police moved into the complex and prevented workers from the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf from carrying out renovation works at the mosque.

Yemen's UAE-backed body pledges to thwart president's decisions

26 Jan 2021; MEMO: The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Yemen on Sunday pledged to prevent the implementation of decisions made by President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi without prior consultations, the Safa news agency reported.

This comes ten days after the president's decision to appoint the speaker of the Shura Council and two deputies, as well as a Public Prosecutor. The STC and two other parties rejected these nominations.

Egypt imposes curfew ahead of revolution anniversary

26 Jan 2021; MEMO: Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Saturday issued a ministerial order imposing a partial curfew in some areas in the north of the Sinai Peninsula.

"A curfew will be imposed across the border district of Tal Rafah, and in Al-Arish city, starting from the western district of Al-Awja to Jabal Al-Halal in the west, moving forward to the Rafah borderline," the order read, according to official Al-Ahram.

Iran says to stop IAEA additional protocol inspections if nuke parties not implement commitments

TEHRAN, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said Monday that if the parties to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the Iranian 2015 nuclear deal, do not adhere to their commitments, Iran will stop inspections pertaining to the Additional Protocol of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Israel bans international flights to curb coronavirus spread

25 Jan 2021; MEMO: Israel will ban passenger flights in and out of the country from Monday evening for a week as it seeks to stop the spread of new coronavirus variants, Reuters reports.

"Other than rare exceptions, we are closing the sky hermetically to prevent the entry of the virus variants and also to ensure that we progress quickly with our vaccination campaign," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in public remarks at the start of a cabinet meeting.
