Jordan: Massive rally against gas agreement with Israel

05 Jan 2019; MEMO: On Friday, thousands of Jordanians participated in a massive rally to drop the gas agreement signed with Israel in 2016.

This comes as a part of the popular demands, which started in the early days of the signing of the agreement, and only two days after Amman and Tel Aviv announced the start of experimental operations of gas pumping.

Lebanese Gov’t Receives 1st Shipment Of Gasoline To Secure Supplies

BEIRUT, Jan 5 (NNN-NNA) – The Lebanese government received its first shipment of gasoline on Saturday, as the government hopes to become a key player in oil supply in Lebanon.

Lebanese Water and Energy Minister, Nada Boustani said, the government received 24,000 tonnes of fuel, with other vessels expected to arrive soon.

Stocks of fuel have started to be distributed to the local market to be sold in Lebanese pounds.

Airstrike Supporting Haftar Kills 28 Students Of Military Academy In Tripoli

TRIPOLI, Jan 5 (NNN-XINHUA) – An airstrike hit a military academy in the Libyan capital Tripoli, late on Saturday, killing 28 students and injuring 18 others.

“Initial casualties indicate that 28 students of the military academy were killed and 18 others were injured, as a result of an airstrike by foreign air force, supporting the war criminal, Haftar (commander of the eastern-based army),” the UN-backed government’s forces said, in a statement.

Iran says U.S. responsible for consequences of Soleimani's assassination

TEHRAN, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Saturday that the United States is responsible for the consequences of the assassination of Qassem Soleimani, former commander of the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

Zarif made the remarks in a meeting with the visiting Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

Heavy Gunfire Reported As Suspected Al-Shabaab Militants Attack Military Bases In Lamu

LAMU, Kenya, Jan 5 (NNN-KBC) – Heavy gunfire reported, as suspected Al-Shabaab militants attack Camp Simba army bases, that host US & Kenya soldiers, in Lamu’s Manda Bay, Kenya.

Citizen TV, quoting police sources, report that, the the Somalia-based militant group ambushed the military camp in a daring attack, at a security installation within the country.

Reports indicate that the daring attack saw the armed militants employ the services of a suicide bomber.

Libya's east-based parliament votes to cut ties with Turkey

TRIPOLI, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Libya's east-based House of Representatives on Saturday voted to cut ties with Turkey after Turkish approval of sending troops to Libya to support the UN-backed government.

"The House of Representatives (the parliament) voted unanimously ... to cancel security and military cooperation and deny maritime deals signed between" the UN-backed government and Turkey, said Abdullah Bhelig, parliament spokesman, in a statement.

Iraq’s Shiite Militia Warns Security Forces To Move 1,000 Metres Away From U.S. Bases

BAGHDAD, Jan 5 (NNN-NINA) – Iranian-backed Iraqi Shiite militia, Kata’ib Hezbollah (KH), warned the Iraqi security forces, to move away from U.S. bases, with no less than 1,000 metres starting from Sunday.

Abu Ali al-Askari, security leader of KH tweeted that “brothers in the Iraqi security services must stay away from the bases of the American enemy for a distance of no less than a thousand meters, starting from Sunday evening.”
