Iran, Russia, China to hold joint naval drills in Indian Ocean soon

TEHRAN, November 28. /TASS/: Joint naval exercises of Iran, Russia and China will be organized in Indian Ocean in the near future, Iranian navy commander Rear Adm. Hossein Khanzadi said.

"Very soon we will have joint maneuvers together with the naval forces of China and Russia in Iran’s southern territorial waters and in the northern part of the Indian Ocean," the Mehr news agency quoted Khanzadi as saying on Wednesday.

Iran dismisses French comments about nuclear deal's dispute mechanism

DUBAI (Reuters) - Iran rejects as “irresponsible” comments by France that it is seriously considering triggering a mechanism within the Iran nuclear deal that could lead to U.N. sanctions, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said on Thursday.

“Iran’s scaling back of its nuclear commitments was implementation of its legal rights to react to America’s illegal and unilateral exit of the deal and the European parties’ failure to fulfill their obligations,” Mousavi said in remarks quoted by state television.

Officials: Iraq protesters burn down Iran consulate in Najaf

BAGHDAD (AP) — Anti-government protesters burned down an Iranian consulate building in southern Iraq on Wednesday, while six protesters were killed by security forces who fired live rounds amid ongoing violence in the country, Iraqi officials said Wednesday.

Protesters torched the consulate in the holy city of Najaf in the evening. One protester was killed and at least 35 people were wounded when police fired live ammunition to prevent them from entering the building, a police official said.

Navy cmdr says Iran, China, Russia to stage tripartite drills soon

Tehran, Nov 27, IRNA – Navy Commander Rear-Admiral Hossein Khanzadi said on Wednesday that Iranian, Chinese and Russian Naval forces are to conduct a tripartite maneuver in the north Indian Ocean in the near future.

Khanzadi made the remarks at a news conference held in Tehran on the occasion of national Navy Day on November 28.

Initial planning has been done and the forces are getting ready for holding the drills, the Navy commander said.

Israel launches fresh air strikes in Gaza

27 Nov 2019; MEMO: Israeli warplanes carried out fresh air strikes in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday following a rocket fire, according to the military, reports Anadolu Agency.

The army said fighter jets struck a number of targets belonging to Palestinian groups Hamas, which rules the seaside territory.

No injuries were reported.

Hundreds of banks and government sites burned in Iran unrest

27 Nov 2019; MEMO: Approximately 731 banks and 140 government sites were torched in the recent unrest in Iran, Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli said in remarks published by the official IRNA news agency on Wednesday, says Reuters.

More than 50 bases used by security forces were attacked and approximately 70 gas stations were also burned, he said, without specifying where the attacks took place.

Turkey never promises not to use Russian-made air defense system: FM

ANKARA, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Turkey has never promised to anyone that it would not install or use the Russian-made S-400 air defense system, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said Tuesday.

"We have no commitment to anyone that we will not install or not use the S-400. We purchased it because we needed an air defense system. Is an air defense system taken to keep it in the box?" the top Turkish diplomat told reporters.
