Kuwait Prepares Operating Room For Flood Victims In Sudan

KUWAIT, Aug 27 (NNN-KUNA) – Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS), has equipped a hospital in Sudan, with a miniature operating room, to treat people affected by floods across the country, KRCS chairman, Hilal al-Sayer, said on Monday.

KRCS is collaborating with Kuwait’s foreign and defence ministries, as well as, the Sudanese Red Crescent, to make sure that urgent aid reaches the Sudanese people, he noted.

KRCS will continue to assess the situation in Sudan, to determine the scope of aid needed, he added.

Iran Says Missile Programme Non-Negotiable

TEHRAN, Iran, Aug 27 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran has rejected France’s proposal, to include the missile programme in a new round of negotiations, an informed source said.

The source said, Iran has responded to the French President, Emmanuel Macron’s proposal, stressing, the country’s missile programme is not up for discussions.

Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani, said earlier that, he is open to meet anybody, if national interests are at stake.

Disused plane sunk in Jordan's Aqaba to enrich marine habitat

AMMAN, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) in Jordan on Monday sunk a disused commercial aircraft to Aqaba's Underwater Military Museum Dive Site to help boost marine life.

Jordan's Crown Prince Hussein attended the ceremony, according to the Jordan News Agency Petra.

The underwater museum has been opened for divers and snorkellers to explore military machines stationed along coral reefs imitating a tactical formation.

Iranian president: First lift sanctions, then let’s talk

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran’s president back-pedaled Tuesday on possible talks with Donald Trump, saying the U.S. president must first lift sanctions imposed on Tehran, otherwise a meeting between the two would be a mere photo op.

Hassan Rouhani’s change of heart came a day after Trump said Monday that there’s a “really good chance” the two could meet on their nuclear impasse after a surprise intervention by French President Emmanuel Macron during the G-7 summit to try to bring Washington and Tehran together after decades of conflict.

Iran sends warship to Gulf of Aden amid tension

26 Aug 2019; MEMO: Iran has dispatched a destroyer and a helicopter-carrying support ship to the Gulf of Aden “to provide security for Islamic Republic vessels in international waters”, according to the Iranian army chief on Monday, Anadolu reports.

Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said the “Sahand” destroyer, which was inducted into the navy last year, has been sent on its first overseas mission to the Gulf of Aden, according to the official IRNA news agency.

Israeli jets hit Hamas-held area in Gaza

26 Aug 2019; MEMO: Israeli jets late Sunday bombed an area in the northern part of Gaza belonging to Izzeddin al-Kassam, Hamas’s armed wing, according to sources on the ground Anadolu reports.

Medical sources reported that there were no casualties.

While the Israeli army has yet to make a statement on the bombing, the airstrikes followed three rockets being fired from Gaza at surrounding Israeli settlements earlier Sunday.

Erdogan: Turkish troops to enter east of Euphrates ‘very soon’

26 Aug 2019; MEMO: Turkish land troops are expected to enter east of the Euphrates River very soon, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Monday, Anadolu reports.

Erdogan said, speaking at an event in the eastern city of Mus to mark the 948th anniversary of Battle of Malazgirt.

Erdogan also warned of any stalling east of the Euphrates River, saying that Turkey is “fully prepared to realize its plans”.

Lebanon’s PM Slams “Israeli Attack” Over Beirut’s Southern Suburbs

BEIRUT, Lebanon, Aug 26 (NNN-NNA) – Lebanese Prime Minister, Saad Hariri, slammed the “Israeli attack” over Beirut’s southern suburbs, which constitutes a violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.

Hariri assured that, he is in touch with President Michel Aoun and House Speaker, Nabih Berri, to agree on the next measures that should be taken, following the incident which constitutes a threat to regional stability and an attempt for further escalations.
