UN insists on 'sunset of the Israeli occupation' before considering termination of ongoing probe

Members of the world body are insisting that the UN would like to see a "sunset of the Israeli occupation" before its inquiry into alleged war crimes committed by the apartheid state is terminated.

Turkish aid group launches campaign for Sudan

21 June 2023; MEMO: Turkiye's Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) launched a campaign to provide relief to the Sudanese people.

This came in remarks made by the head of the foundation, Bulent Yildirim, in a press conference held yesterday at the foundation's headquarters in the Turkish capital, Ankara.

Yildirim said the IHH has launched a wide and comprehensive campaign for the relief of the Sudanese people and called on all civil society organisations and relief bodies to support this campaign.

New Parliament will be architect of 'Century of Turkiye' with 600 lawmakers: Erdogan

21 June 2023; MEMO: The Turkish Parliament, which hosts 600 lawmakers from 15 different political parties, can serve as the architect and guide of the "Century of Turkiye" by approving a brand new civilian and democratic constitution, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said, Anadolu News Agency reports.

According to the report, after the parliamentary polls of 14 May, the 600-seat Turkish Parliament has started its legislative activities with its new members.

Israeli settlers attack Palestinian villages after deadly Hamas strike

RAMALLAH, West Bank, June 21 (Reuters) - Israeli settlers rampaged through Palestinian towns in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, torching buildings and cars in apparent retaliation for the killing by Hamas of four Israelis near a settlement the day before, residents and officials said.

One Palestinian was shot dead during the rampage, Palestinian health officials said.

In TurmusAyya, a prosperous town near Ramallah popular with wealthy Palestinians, footage showed cars ablaze with thick clouds of black smoke swirling above and Palestinian youths throwing stones.

165 female immigrants deported from Libya to Nigeria

TRIPOLI, June 20 (Xinhua) -- The Libyan Illegal Immigration Control Department on Tuesday deported 165 female illegal immigrants to their home country of Nigeria.

"Some of them were arrested as they were begging on the streets and others were arrested during raids on criminal hideouts," the department's spokesman Haitham Belgasem told Xinhua, adding that more deportation flights would be arranged in the future.

The International Organization for Migration has said that a total of 7,477 illegal immigrants have been rescued and returned to Libya so far this year.
