Algeria: Ex-PM and ex-health minister given 5-year jail terms

23 June 2023; MEMO: An Algerian court on Wednesday handed five year prison terms to former Prime Minister Noureddine Bedoui and former Health Minister Abdelmalek Boudiaf, and fined them one million dinars ($7,383), the state news agency said, according to Reuters.

The sentences relate to a corruption case.

Palestine: Israeli settlers raid mosque, rip Qurans

23 June 2023; MEMO: Illegal Israeli settlers, last night, attacked Palestinian residents in Masafer Yatta district to the south of Hebron in the Occupied West Bank, reported Wafa news agency.

According to local activist, Osama Al-Makhamreh, the settlers from Havat Maon were under the protection of Israeli occupation forces as they assaulted Palestinian shepherds and civilians in the village of Khirbet Tuba, based in Masafer Yatta, resulting in grave injuries.

Palestine: UN warns of violence spiralling out of control in occupied West Bank

Palestine Prisoners Club warns of skin disease among detainees at Ramon Prison

24 June 2023; MEMO: The Palestinian Prisoners Club (PPC) warned on Friday of the potential spread of skin disease among Palestinian prisoners at the Israeli Ramon Prison, a statement disclosed.

The PPC announced that ten prisoners at Ramon Prison had contracted a skin disease, expressing concerns that it may spread among other prisoners if medical treatment is not given.

Sisi to Egyptians: 'I have nothing to promise you except work and patience'

24 June 2023; MEMO: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi announced on Friday that he informed his citizens that he has "nothing to promise except work, work, work and patience", warning that if people in Africa do not find hope for life, they will move towards Europe.

Syria: Drone strike hits President's ancestral town

24 June 2023; MEMO: A drone attack targeted Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad's ancestral town of Qardaha on Friday with two projectiles, killing one person and lightly injuring another, Syrian state news agency, Sana, reported.

The strike came a day after Sana reported a drone attack on Salhab, another government-held town in north-west Syria near rebel territory, that killed a woman and a child.
