S. Africa urges neutrality over humanitarian aid to Venezuela

UNITED NATIONS, April 10 (Xinhua) -- A senior South Africa official urged on Tuesday all parties to respect the need for impartiality, neutrality and independence while providing humanitarian assistance to Venezuela.

Speaking at the United Nations (UN) Security Council meeting on the humanitarian situation in Venezuela, Jerry Matjila, South Africa's permanent representative to the UN, said it is "important that the effective and unhindered provision of humanitarian assistance takes place in coordination and cooperation with the Venezuelan government."

China, Croatia to enhance cultural, tourism cooperation

ZAGREB, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said Wednesday that the two countries will enhance cultural and tourism cooperation.

Li and Plenkovic made the remarks when speaking at the opening ceremony of the Year of Tourism between China and Croatia.

Congratulating the two countries on jointly holding such an event for the first time, Li said both China and Croatia enjoy long history and rich and colorful culture, and picturesque natural scenery.

World’s first floating nuclear power station to begin supplying electricity in 2019

Rae Bareli, Apr 11 (PTI) UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi Thursday filed her nomination papers from the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

She was accompanied by her son and Congress president Rahul Gandhi, daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and her son-in-law Robert Vadra.

Before filing her nomination papers at the Collectorate here, the UPA chairperson held a roadshow and offered puja at the Congress central office here.

Kerala HC grants bail to BJP candidate who attack woman in Sabarimala

Kochi, Apr 11 (PTI) The Kerala High Court Thursday granted conditional bail to the BJP's candidate for Kozhikode Lok Sabha constituency, Prakash Babu, arrested in a case related to an alleged attack on a woman devotee in Sabarimala temple last November.

He was sent to jail on March 28 by a court in Ranni in Pathanamthitta district in connection with the case.

Granting bail to Babu, Justice Alexander Thomas directed him to appear before the investigating officer on the second and fourth Saturdays every month after the Lok Sabha elections for four months.

India: Man held for sexually assaulting 9-year old stepdaughter

Coimbatore, Apr 10 (PTI) A 35-year old man was arrested Wednesday on the charge of sexually assaulting his stepdaughter for the last few months, police said.

The assault came to light after the nine-year old girl narrated the incident to her class teacher who complained to the all-woman police in Pollachi, 40 km from here.

A case was registered and the accused daily wage labourer was arrested, the police said.

Pelosi calls on President Trump to sign Yemen resolution

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called on President Donald Trump Tuesday to sign into law a resolution ending American involvement in the war in Yemen.

“The situation in Yemen ... has left an indelible scar and stain on the conscience of the world,” Pelosi told reporters. She said the resolution passed by Congress last week sets “a standard for what kinds of military engagements we take part in.”

Trump has already pledged to veto the measure.

Boeing orders and deliveries tumble as Max jet is grounded

DALLAS (AP) — Boeing failed to win any orders for its 737 Max airliner in March as scrutiny of the plane increased following a second deadly crash in less than five months.

Deliveries of finished Max jets also tumbled, to 11 from 26 in February. That was not surprising — Boeing suspended deliveries in mid-March after regulators around the world ordered the plane grounded.
