Russia, Turkey agree to accelerate creation of Syria’s Constitutional Committee

Moscow and Ankara has agreed to step up work to establish Syria’s Constitutional Committee in cooperation with the UN, the Syrian government and the opposition, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told reporters on Friday at a joint news conference with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu following a meeting of the Joint Strategic Planning Group.

Venezuela: Don't worry about our military cooperation with Russia

CARACAS, March 30. /TASS/. The military cooperation between Moscow and Caracas should not be a source of concern for other states, Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez said on Friday.

"It’s of no secret to anyone that our country has been maintaining the defense cooperation with Russia since 2001, but their [Russian servicemen’s] visit has sparked a scandal," the Venezuelan Defense Ministry quoted Padrino as saying in a Twitter post. "Nobody should worry about cooperation to increase our operative readiness."

Boeing MCAS anti-stall system was activated in Ethiopia crash

Direct shipping of goods between Ireland, continental Europe on rise amid Brexit fears

DUBLIN, March 29 (Xinhua) -- The direct shipping of goods between Ireland and the continental Europe has witnessed a marked increase as more companies choose to bypass British ports amid Brexit fears, local media RTE reported on Friday.

The report quoted local port authorities as saying that currently two-and-a-half times more goods move on direct routes from Dublin than via the UK landbridge and that number is expected to increase.

The UK landbridge refers to Britain as a bridge linking Ireland and the European mainland over the sea.

In a joint statement issued on the website www.artistuniteindia.com, the group of 103 filmmakers have called people "to protect the democracy of the country" and claimed that the "BJP has made the country the boardroom property of a handful of businessmen".

India: Woman burnt alive over dowry demand

Muzaffarnagar, Mar 30 (PTI) A woman was allegedly burnt alive by her in-laws in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place in Haibatpur village under Charthawal police station on Friday, they said.

The woman was identified as Sonia, who was married to Arvind Kumar, they said.

Israeli airstrikes kill wedding plans of Palestinian couple in Gaza

GAZA, March 29 (Xinhua) -- In the Palestinian Gaza Strip, wedding plans of a Palestinian couple were torn apart after an Israeli airstrike destroyed the residential building that housed their future "nest."

The financial conditions of 26-year-old Walid al-Shawa, a taxi driver from Gaza city, are so difficult and cannot help him rent an apartment ahead of his wedding. That is why he rented a room at his sister's apartment, who lives in a residential building of several floors in Gaza City.

Fire guts some 300 shops at Bangladesh capital Dhaka's market

DHAKA, March 30 (Xinhua) -- A fire gutted some 300 shops in a kitchen market located at Bangladesh capital Dhaka's Gulshan on Saturday, destroying goods and property, said a firefighter.

The firefighter who preferred to be unnamed said the fire, which originated at around 6:00 a.m. local time, raged on till 8:00 a.m. local time.

He said 21 units of firefighters have been trying to douse the fire.

No casualties have so far been reported.

The exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.

39 candidates to run for Ukrainian presidency

KIEV, March 29. /TASS/. The Central Election Commission prohibited local election commissions to make any changes to the ballot papers, the Central Election Commission (CEC) press service reported on Friday.

The CEC stressed that after March 7 presidential candidates have no right to refuse to run for presidency. Thus, as of March 29 the Central Election Commission registered 39 candidates to the post of Ukrainian president who were included in the ballot paper for the March 31 election.

Albanian economy expands 4 percent in 2018

TIRANA, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Albania's economy grew by 4 percent in 2018, former Minister of Finance and Economy Arben Ahmetaj said on Friday.

"Consumption and investments remain the main generators of economic growth, reflecting on the consumer confidence and Albania's economic growth, thanks to the reforms we have undertaken over the past years, as well as the appropriate fiscal consolidation," Ahmetaj said.
