El Salvadoran president highlights developing relationship with China

SAN SALVADOR, March 19 (Xinhua) -- El Salvadoran President Salvador Sanchez Ceren highlighted here on Tuesday the development of bilateral relations with China.

At a handover ceremony of laptops which were donated by China to El Salvadoran public schools, the president stressed the significance and benefits of El Salvadora's relationship with the Asian country.

"This donation is a sign of the genuine wish to drive projects of cooperation, that will always be of benefit to the people of the two countries, with transparency and without any political conditions," he said.

Italy: Bus driver takes 51 kids hostage, sets vehicle on fire

21 Mar 2019; DW: A school bus driver on Wednesday allegedly held 51 children and their chaperones hostage on a bus in the northern Italian city San Donato Milanese before setting it on fire.

All of the children were rescued when the bus crashed following a police chase, allowing officers to force open the back door and help students off the bus, as the driver threatened suicide.

Man fired and deported from UAE for celebrating NZ mosques terrorist act

According to a REUTERS report; a company in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has fired an employee after he allegedly celebrated the terrorist act resulting mass killing of worshipers in two New Zealand mosques last week.

A Transguard employee made inflammatory comments on his personal Facebook account celebrating the deplorable attack in Christchurch", security company Transguard said in a statement on Tuesday.

World's largest underwater restaurant opens in Norway

21 Mar 2019; DW: The "Under" restaurant is five meters (16 feet) under water at Spangereid on Norway's southern tip.

"Under" also means "wonder" in Norwegian. It opened on Wednesday for friends and family of the owners, with the first paying guests expected in April. 

It is Europe's first and the world's largest underwater restaurant, with seating for 100 guests.

Russian new Il-112V aircraft to make first flight soon

MOSCOW, March 21 (Xinhua) -- The first flight of the new Russian military transport aircraft Il-112V will take place at the end of March or the beginning of April, local media reported Thursday.

"Everything is ready, all issues with engines have been resolved," TASS news agency quoted a source in the defense industry as saying.

Il-112V will be accompanied by an An-26 aircraft on its maiden flight. "The An-26 will fly in parallel, at the same altitude and speed, to monitor the operation parameters of different systems," the source added.

Pompeo attends summit in Jerusalem about Israeli gas pipe line

JERUSALEM, March 20 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo attended a summit with Israeli, Greek, and Cypriot heads of states in Jerusalem on Wednesday, discussing a natural gas pipeline.

The meeting was attended by Pompeo, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades, and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

"The leaders discussed regional issues and deepening the cooperation between the countries," according to a statement released by the Israeli Prime Minister's Office.

India signals to boycott China's B&R Forum 2nd time

Beijing, Mar 20 (PTI) India on Wednesday signalled that it will boycott China's second Belt and Road Forum for a second time, saying no country can participate in an initiative that ignores its core concerns on sovereignty and territorial integrity.

India boycotted the first Belt and Road Forum (BRF) in 2017 after protesting to Beijing over the controversial China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) which is being laid through the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) overriding New Delhi's sovereignty concerns.

Aseemanand: many aliases, one saffron identity

New Delhi, Mar 20 (PTI) Two years, three acquittals and Aseemanand, the self-confessed monk with many aliases and one saffron identity, is now a free man after a special court in Panchkula on Wednesday let him off in the 2007 Samjhauta train bombing case.

Wearing multiple identities of religious preacher, science student and terror accused, the saffron robed Aseemanand, once known as the most wanted man in India, was the alleged link between the series of three bombings that ripped through India in 2007.

India: BJP hails Samjhauta Express blast verdict as historic

New Delhi, Mar 20 (PTI) The BJP Wednesday described as "historic" the acquittal of Samjhauta Express blast accused, saying it is an indication of how the previous Congress-led government played politics with terror.

Twelve years after a blast on Samjhauta Express killed 68 people, mostly Pakistanis, a special court Wednesday acquitted Swami Aseemanand and three others in the case.

Indian CRPF jawan kills 3 colleagues in J-K

New Delhi, Mar 20 (PTI) Three CRPF personnel were killed Wednesday after a colleague allegedly fired at them after an altercation at their camp in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

The alleged fratricide incident happened at around 10 pm when constable Ajit Kumar shot three of his colleagues from his service rifle at the 187th battalion camp of the force in the Battal Ballian area in Udhampur, they said.

Iran's top leader says nation's resistance foils U.S. economic "plots"

TEHRAN, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Thursday called for economic initiatives and boost of production to offset U.S. sanction pressures.

He hailed what he called the nation's "fortitude and prudence" against conspiracies.

Khamenei made the remarks, broadcast live on the state TV, on the occasion of the Iranian New Year, Nowruz, which began on Thursday.

India: Army jawan shoots self to death

Jamnagar, Mar 20 (PTI) An Army jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself to death with his service rifle at the Infantry Brigade camp here while on duty, police said.

Vishal Kumar P (25), from Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram district, allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday night, police said.

The deceased hailed from Pangode village in Nedumangad taluka of Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram district, an official of Jamnagar A division police station said.
