Greece charges 20 people, including politicians, over wildfires

They carry a maximum five-year prison sentence.

Chinese-made Yutong buses revamp transport in Uruguay

MONTEVIDEO, March 5 (Xinhua) -- In southern Uruguay's Canelones Department, a leading transport company is relying on Chinese technology to renovate and upgrade its bus fleet.

With the help of Chinese bus manufacturer Yutong and its hybrid vehicles, the Pando Omnibus Company S.A. (COPSA) is looking to modernize its service.

"After a period of economic difficulty, we began a fleet renovation plan that we had postponed for four years," COPSA General Manager Javier Cardoso told Xinhua.

JeM chief Masood Azhar's brother among 44 arrested in Pakistan

Islamabad, Mar 5 (PTI) Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar's brother was among 44 members of the banned militant outfits arrested by authorities in Pakistan, amid mounting pressure from the global community on Islamabad to rein in the terror groups operating on its soil.

Mufti Abdur Rauf, brother of Azhar, and Hammad Azhar are 44 people arrested during the crackdown, Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Khan Afridi said at a press conference here.

He said a dossier shared by India with Pakistan last week also contained names of Mufti Abdur Rauf and Hammad Azhar.

Ride-hailing firm Grab secures $1.5 billion in funding

06 Mar 2019; AFP: Southeast Asian ride-hailing firm Grab said on Wednesday it has secured $1.5 billion in fresh financing from a fund run by Japan's SoftBank and will use a significant portion of it to expand in Indonesia.

Grab has seen its business grow rapidly since it bought US-based rival Uber's regional ride-hailing and food business in March last year. Uber received a 27.5 percent stake in Grab in return.

India: Maha cabinet clears 29 km Thane metro project

Mumbai, Mar 5 (PTI) The Maharashtra cabinet Tuesday cleared a 29-kilometre metro line for Thane which will be implemented by the Maha Metro on behalf of the Thane Municipal Corporation.

A statement from the Chief Minister's office said the project will take four years to be completed and will be built at a cost of Rs 13,095 crore.

Of the 29 kilometres, 2.2 kilometres will be underground and the rest will be elevated, it added.

Pakistan's claims on Indian submarine incorrect: Navy

New Delhi, May 5 (PTI) The Indian Navy on Tuesday dismissed as "false propaganda" Pakistan's claim that it had thwarted an attempt by an Indian submarine to enter the country's territorial waters.

In a statement, the Pakistan Navy claimed in Islamabad that it used specialised skills to ward off the Indian submarine from entering Pakistani waters.

"We have witnessed Pakistan indulging in false propaganda and spread of misinformation. The Indian Navy does not take cognizance of such propaganda. Our deployments remain undeterred," the Indian Navy said.

India: Woman raped by occultist in Gurgaon: police

Gurgaon, March 6 ( PTI) A 27-year-old woman was raped by an occultist whom the victim and her husband had invited to perform a religious ritual in their home to drive away their poverty, police said Tuesday.

Guragon ACP (Crime) Shamsher Singh said the victim and her husband had come in the contact of one Amit of Ballabhgarh in Faridabad, who boasted of having divine powers.

Trump plans to scrap preferential trade status for India

Washington, Mar 5 (PTI) US President Donald Trump has said he intends to end the preferential trade status granted to India and Turkey, asserting that New Delhi has failed to assure America of "equitable and reasonable" access to its markets, an announcement that could be seen as a major setback to bilateral trade ties.

President Trump notified Congress in letters of his "intent to terminate" trade benefits for both countries under the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) eligibility criteria.

House panel opens sweeping probe of Trump, his associates

WASHINGTON (AP) — Democrats launched a sweeping new probe of President Donald Trump, an aggressive investigation that threatens to shadow the president through the 2020 election season with potentially damaging inquiries into his White House, campaign and family businesses.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler said Monday his panel was beginning the probe into possible obstruction of justice, corruption and abuse of power and is sending document requests to 81 people linked to the president and his associates.
