Delhi HC acquits Suhaib Ilyasi in wife's murder case + Chronology of events

New Delhi, Oct 5 (PTI) The Delhi High Court Friday acquitted former TV anchor and producer Suhaib Ilyasi in his wife's murder case.

A bench of Justices S Muralidhar and Vinod Goel allowed the appeal of Ilyasi challenging his conviction and life imprisonment for killing his wife, Anju, 18 years ago.

"The appeal is allowed," the bench said.

Ilyasi's daughter Aaliya, who was present at the time of pronouncement of the verdict, expressed happiness and said she always had trust in her father.

Bihari man rapes 14 month girl in Gujrat – locals angry with non-Gujratis

A Bihari factory worker has raped a 14 month old girl in Sabarkantha district of Gujrat. Angry locals protested in streets, and attacked people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

Protesters attacked the ceramic factory where the alleged rapist works, and torched the vehicles.

Protests were also held in Sabarkantha, Mahesana, Gandhi Nagar and Ahamdabad, where protesters damaged the houses and shops owned by non-Gujratis.

Soyuz MS-08 with three-man crew on board separates from ISS

KOROLYOV /Moscow Region/, October 4. /TASS/. The Soyuz MS-08 spacecraft with three participants in the prolonged space expedition 55/56 has separated from the International Space Station (ISS) and begun the journey home, Mission Control near Moscow told the media on Thursday.

"The Soyuz MS-08 has been detached from the ISS. According to the telemetry data, the procedure was normal. The commander said he had no critical remarks to make," Mission Control's spokesman said.

Soyuz capsule carrying 3 crew land safely in Kazakhstan

MOSCOW (AP) — A Russian space capsule with three men onboard has safely landed in a barren steppe in Kazakhstan after a six-month mission aboard the International Space Station.

The Soyuz MS-08 carrying Russia’s Oleg Artemyev and NASA’s Drew Feustel and Ricky Arnold touched down at 5.44 p.m. Kazakh time (1144 GMT).

The two Americans performed three space walks to carry out maintenance during their 197-day stay at the orbiting lab. Artemyev conducted one spacewalk together with a fellow Russian.

Three Naxal terrorists killed in Chhattisgarh; arms seized

Raipur, Oct 3; PTI: Three Naxals were gunned down in an encounter with security forces in a dense forest in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, police said on Wednesday.

Besides, one ultra was arrested from the encounter site, located around 500 km from the state capital Raipur, they said.

The gunbattle took place Tuesday evening in the forest of Muler village when a team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) was out on an anti-Naxal operation, Sukma Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena told PTI over phone.

9yr old US boy on home detention for pointing loaded gun at classmates

HOUSTON, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- A 9-year-old boy in Broward county in the U.S. state of Florida was placed on home detention Wednesday after he pointed his father's loaded handgun at three classmates at school, according to local authorities.

The police said with a loaded gun in hand, the boy, a third-grader, made "threatening comments" to the victims who the boy claimed had bullied him, saying "you see this, this is a real gun."

The school resource officer managed to take the gun and arrest the child without causing any incident.

U.S. terminates treaty of amity with Iran after UN court verdict

WASHINGTON, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said here on Wednesday that the United States is terminating the 1955 Treaty of Amity with Iran, after the UN's top court ruled that Washington lift sanctions on Tehran.

Pompeo said at a press briefing that "I'm announcing that the U.S. is terminating the 1955 Treaty of Amity with Iran. This is a decision, frankly, that is 39 years overdue."
