Death toll due to fever rises to 42 in UP districts

Bareilly (UP), Sep 14 (PTI) The death toll due to an unknown fever in various districts under Bareilly division has risen to 42 with six more people dying in Badaun and Shahjahanpur in last three days, officials said on Friday.

Citing fresh reports, the officials said that the fever had claimed three lives each in Badaun and Shahjahanpur.

Earlier, 20 persons had died in a fortnight in Bareilly district, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Bareilly, Vineet Kumar said.

Kumaraswamy accuses BJP of trying to topple his government

Bengaluru, Sep 14 (PTI) Accusing the BJP of attempting to topple his government,Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy Friday warned of legal action against "certain kingpins' who, he claimed, were trying to bribe Congress and JD(S) MLAs to pull down his ministry.

Amid media reports that certain resorts were ready to host some Congress and JD(S) MLAs in the alleged toppling game following internal dissent in the Congress, Kumaraswamy asserted he was ready to face any challenge to his government.

Rape and torture of kids in Bhopal Shelter Home

MP Avasthi, Manager of a Shelter Home in Bhopal, Has been arrested for rape and torture of kids. Last year, Avasthi was accused for rape in another shelter home in Hoshangabad.

Avasthi has been accused of raping a girl for eight years. He is also accused of torturing kids, which caused deaths of three children in his custody.

Hatching military scenario for Donbass will be a disaster for Ukrainian people — Lavrov

BERLIN, September 14. /TASS/. Russia is warning those who would like to implement a military scenario in Donbass, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told a news conference following talks with his German counterpart Heiko Maas on Friday.

"I would like to strongly warn those who are hatching a military scenario. It would be a disaster for the Ukrainian people, because it may really undermine Ukrainian statehood. Waging a war on one’s own citizens is impermissible," he stated.

Lavrov said the situation in Ukraine was discussed at his talks with Maas in great detail.

Japanese supply run to space station delayed again

CAPE CANAVERAL, 15 Sep2018; (AP) — A Japanese supply run to the International Space Station has been delayed again.

The countdown was halted Saturday local time in Japan, with only a few hours remaining before liftoff. Earlier in the week, a typhoon delayed the launch.

The Japanese space agency said there was an issue with the propulsion system. No new launch date has been set.

The cargo ship — the seventh to be launched by Japan — contains new batteries needed for a pair of NASA spacewalks.

Turkey to freeze new government investment projects

ANKARA, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Turkey will review and freeze the new government investment projects as part of efforts to keep budget balance and fight against double-digit inflation, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday.

"We are not considering any fresh investments right now," Erdogan told his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) provincial heads in Ankara.

One day earlier, Erdogan said in another speech that Turkey "will not start any projects which have barely been kicked off or which have not even been tendered yet."

Debt-ridden farmer commits suicide in UP

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Sep 14; PTI: A farmer in Muzaffarnagar's Rajpur village has allegedly committed suicide after failing to pay a debt, police said Friday.

Ravinder Kumar (48) ended his life by hanging from the ceiling of his house on Thursday, they said.

According to Circle Officer Hariram Yadav, a suicide note allegedly written by Kumar was also recovered in which the farmer claimed that he had sold his land to a teacher to clear the debt but he did not pay the promised amount.

Woman raped by three near Yamuna Expressway

Aligarh (UP), Sep 14 (PTI) A 30-year-old woman was gangraped in a field on the outskirts of Jattari township near here, police said Friday.

The incident took place in a field adjoining the Yamuna Expressway Thursday and three persons allegedly involved in the incident have been identified, police station in-charge Sanjay Pandey said.

The accused had an old enmity with the victim's family, he said.

Soon after the incident villagers held a protest at the police station alleging police delay in reaching the crime spot.
