Turkey: Ancient Islamic monastery moved to new site

BATMAN, Turkey; 10 Sep 2018; AA: A small Islamic monastery, also known as zawiya, in southeastern Turkey dating back to the 12th century was relocated Monday to a new site to prevent it from flooding when a new dam opens. 

A 256-wheeler flatbed truck moved the shrine part of the 850-ton ancient Artuqid-era religious school for one-and-a-half hours, to a cultural park in the district of Hasankeyf in the Batman province.  

The first part of the zawiya was carried some 2.4 kilometers away from its original spot. 

Russia, UN begin consultations on Syrian constitutional committee in Geneva

High-ranking Russian diplomats have begun consultations with United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura on the formation of a Syrian constitutional committee in Geneva. The Russian delegation includes Special Presidential Envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentyev and Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin.

US warplanes use phosphorus bomb to deliver airstrikes in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

MOSCOW, September 9. /TASS/. Phosphorous bombs were used by the US air force warplanes to deliver a strike on the settlement of Hajin in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor governorate on September 8, chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties Vladimir Savchenko said on Sunday.

"On September 8, 2018, two F-15 warplanes of the US air force delivered airstrikes on the settlement of Hajin with the use of phosphorous bombs. The airstrikes caused heavy fires. Information about casualties and damages is being verified," he said.

10 Sep 2018; DW: President Omar al-Bashir has fired all 31 government ministers as he seeks a new, smaller cabinet amidst economic crisis. Inflation has reached an astronomical 65 percent.

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir dissolved the country's government on Sunday amidst an increasingly dire economic crisis. With the approval of the ruling National Congress Party (NCP), Bashir fired all 31 cabinet ministers including Prime Minister Bakri Hassan Saleh.

Two more arrested to support Hindutva Terrorists

Two more men have been arrested by Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Friday in connection with the seizure of a large scale arms and explosives from Hindutva Terrorist’s home in Mumbai.

Vasudev Suryawanshi (29) and Vijay alias Bhaiyya Lodhi (32) have been arrested on the charges of providing vehicles to other accused to conduct reconnaissance of various places.

Explosives case: Maharashtra ATS arrests two more men

Mumbai, Sep 8 (PTI) The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra police on Saturday arrested two more persons in connection with the seizure of explosives and an alleged conspiracy to carry out blasts in the state, an official said.

This takes the number of arrested persons in the case to seven.

Following the interrogation of those held earlier, ATS detained Vasudev Suryawanshi (29) and Vijay alias Bhaiyya Lodhi (32) from Sakri in Jalgaon district of North Maharashtra on Friday, an ATS official said. They were arrested after questioning.

China, Pakistan vow to push forward all-weather strategic cooperative partnership to new high

ISLAMABAD, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- China and Pakistan pledged here on Saturday to push forward the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries to a new high.

While meeting with Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi hailed the smooth and successful general elections in Pakistan in July, saying China respects the choice made by the Pakistani people on their own will.

As Pakistan's good friend, good partner and good neighbor, China will stand firmly with the Pakistani side, Wang said.

20-yr-old Dalit youth beaten to death in UP

Muzaffarnagar, Sep 9 (PTI) A 20-year-old Dalit youth was beaten to death by unidentified persons at Budhana town here, police said on Sunday.

The youth went missing on Friday and his body was found in a field a day after, Station House Officer (SHO)Perbhaker Kentura said.

He said a case was registered against unidentified persons based on a complaint by the youth's father Ram Kishan .

The deceased, identified as Kapil, had injuries to his head, the SHO said, adding that the body was handover after post mortem.
