YEREVAN, Armenia (AP) — Armenian and Azerbaijani forces fought over the separatist region of Nagorno-Karabakh for a second day Monday, with both sides blaming each other for resuming the attacks that reportedly killed and wounded dozens as the decades-old conflict has reignited.

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry claimed Armenian forces shelled the town of Tartar, while Armenian officials said the fighting continued overnight and Baku resumed “offensive operations” in the morning.

The decision was made in a meeting of Azerbaijan’s National Assembly yesterday, in which it enforced partial measures in its border regions which could temporarily restrict some rights and freedoms of Azeri citizens and foreigners due to the conflict.

Yerevan (Armenia), Sep 28 (AP/PTI) Fighting between Armenian and Azerbaijani forces has erupted again over the disputed separatist region of Nagorno-Karabakh and the territory's defence ministry said 16 soldiers and two civilians have been killed and more than 100 others wounded.

Azerbaijan's president, meanwhile, says his military has suffered losses, but gave no details.

Armenia also claimed that four Azerbaijani helicopters were shot down and 33 Azerbaijani tanks and fighting vehicles were hit by artillery.

YEREVAN/BAKU (Reuters) - Armenian and Azeri forces exchanged fierce fire for a second day on Monday over the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, with the sides accusing each other of using heavy artillery amid reports of at least 21 deaths and hundreds of people being wounded.

The clashes between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the heaviest since 2016, have rekindled concern over stability in the South Caucasus region, a corridor for pipelines carrying oil and gas to world markets.

YEREVAN, Armenia (AP) — Fighting between Armenia and Azerbaijan broke out Sunday around the separatist region of Nagorno-Karabakh and the Armenian Defense Ministry said two Azerbaijani helicopters were shot down.

Ministry spokeswoman Shushan Stepanyan also said Armenian forces hit three Azerbaijani tanks. There was no immediate word on casualties.

YEREVAN, July 28. /TASS/: The situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border overnight to Tuesday was relatively calm, Armenian Defense Ministry Spokesperson Shushan Stepanyan said on Tuesday.

"Overnight to July 28, like now relative calm has been observed on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border," the spokesperson wrote on her Facebook page. The Azerbaijani forces violated ceasefire 17 times at various parts of the border, firing at Armenia’s positions 220 times, she noted.

YEREVAN, July 17. /TASS/: Armenia’s army manages to control the situation on the border with Azerbaijan and needs assistance neither from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) nor the joint Russian-Armenian military contingent, Armenian Defense Ministry Spokesman Artsrun Ovannisyan said on Friday.

"The joint Russian-Armenian contingent has its own plan of activities. At the moment, the Armenian armed forces can cope and are coping with the situation and the issue of involving either the CSTO or the joint contingent is not on the agenda," he said.

YEREVAN, June 9 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his family have recovered from the coronavirus, the leader of the ex-Soviet country badly hit by the pandemic said.

“We have just received the results of our repeat tests,” Pashinyan, 45, said on Facebook. All of his tests and those of his family were negative, he added.

The Armenian leader announced on his birthday, June 1, that he and his family had tested positive for the virus and he would be working from home.

YEREVAN, June 1 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said he had tested positive for the novel coronavirus, speaking during a Facebook live video.

“I didn’t have any symptoms, I decided to take a test as I was planning to visit the frontline”, said Pashinyan, adding that his whole family was infected.

YEREVAN, January 25. /TASS/: Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a big press conference on Saturday he might meet with Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev on the sidelines of the Munich security conference that would take place in mid-February.

The Armenian premier’s press conference was broadcast live from the town of Kapan in the country’s south by local TV channels.
