Armenian PM says signs Karabakh deal based on army’s recommendation

YEREVAN, November 10. /TASS/: Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a complete ceasefire agreement in Nagorno-Karabakh based on a recommendation from the country’s armed forces, as he himself said in a live broadcast on Facebook on Tuesday.

"I made such a decision after the army had, in fact, insisted on it. You can imagine a situation where the army says that it is time to stop," he pointed out.

Armenia, Azerbaijan agree to end fight in Nagorno-Karabakh

YEREVAN, Armenia (AP) — Armenia and Azerbaijan announced an agreement early Tuesday to halt fighting over the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan under a pact signed with Russia that calls for deployment of nearly 2,000 Russian peacekeepers and territorial concessions.

Nagorno-Karabakh has been under the control of ethnic Armenian forces backed by Armenia since a 1994 truce ended a separatist war in which an estimated 30,000 people died. Sporadic clashes occurred since then, and full-scale fighting began on Sept. 27.

Azerbaijani Armed Forces shell city in Nagorno-Karabakh, Yerevan reports

YEREVAN, November 4. /TASS/: The Azerbaijani armed forces fired at the city of Shusha in Nagorno-Karabakh using heavy guns, which resulted in casualties and destruction, the Armenian Single Information Center reported on Wednesday.

"The Azerbaijani Armed Forces fired at Shusha from heavy guns. There are casualties among the civilians, and there are a lot of destruction in the city," the statement said.

Armenia calls for probe into ‘foreign mercenaries’ in Karabakh

YEREVAN/BAKU, Nov 3 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Armenia’s prime minister called for an international investigation into the presence of “foreign mercenaries” in Nagorno-Karabakh after ethnic Armenian forces said they had captured two mercenaries from Syria.

Azerbaijian has repeatedly denied the presence of foreign combatants in the conflict zone. Its ministry of defence was not immediately available for comment.

YEREVAN, Armenia (AP) — Fighting over the Nagorno-Karabakh region continued Sunday, but Armenia and Azerbaijan reiterated their commitment to a peaceful resolution of their decades-old conflict and agreed to a third attempt to establish a cease-fire after four weeks of hostilities.

Armenia feels support from Russia as strategic partner, says Pashinyan

YEREVAN, October 21. /TASS/: Armenia appreciates relations with Russia and feels its allied support at this stage, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

"Today and throughout this period I very much appreciate cooperation between Armenia and Russia. We feel Russia’s allied support as a strategic partner for Armenia and the Armenian people. We maintain continued cooperation at a high level in order to find a way out of the situation," he said.
