Chinese medical teams lauded for advancing healthcare in Tanzania

DAR ES SALAAM, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- The government of Tanzania on Tuesday thanked the Chinese government for dispatching medical teams to help improve healthcare for people in the East African country.

Over the last six decades, more than 1,500 members of the Chinese medical team have been dispatched to Tanzania, said Paschal Ruggajo, director of Curative Services in the Ministry of Health, stressing that they have saved the lives of more than 20 million Tanzanians suffering from complicated ailments and have helped address various technological gaps in local hospitals.

Oil, gas exploration: Tanzania seeks Riyadh expertise

DAR ES SALAAM, Dec 21 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — Tanzanian VICE-PRESIDENT Dr Philip Mpango has stated that Tanzania and Saudi Arabia can collaborate in the oil and gas sector, drawing from the experience of the Middle Eastern country in that field.

Dr Mpango made the remarks during a meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Tanzania, Yahya Ahmed Okeish, on Tuesday.

Tanzania has a significant ambition to elevate its global economy in the oil and gas industry. Currently, the country is leading the race in East Africa, followed by Uganda and Kenya.

Tanzania: Dodoma to host World Bee Day

DODOMA, Dec 11 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — Tanzania’s Capital City-Dodoma, is expected for the first-time to host next year’s World Bee Day (WBD) scheduled for May 20, 2024, the government has confirmed.

The confirmation was made here by the Assistant Director of Beekeeping Development from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, Daniel Pancras during a special forum convened to set up preliminary preparations for hosting the crucial global event.

South Korea to support Tanzania in strengthening statistical systems

DODOMA, Dec 8 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — THE South Korean government has pledged further support for strengthening statistical systems in Tanzania.

The promise was made by Republic of Korea Ambassador to Tanzania Dr. Kim Sun Pyo at the launch of TASIS, an event held in Dodoma recently.

He said Korea and Tanzania worked together to prepare the database, noting that such efforts could be extended to other countries, but there was a need to enhance cooperation to ensure that many Tanzanians use the data.

Tanzanian President Hassan inspects site of devastating flash floods, landslides, with death toll rising to 76

DAR ES SALAAM, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Thursday traveled to Manyara region and inspected the devastation caused by flash floods and landslides in the region's Hanang district happening Sunday.

Briefing the president, the Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Jenista Mhagama said the death toll from the Dec. 3 deluge had risen to 76 from 69 Wednesday, adding the deluge had also left more than 5,600 people homeless, and 750 farm crops destroyed and many livestock killed.

Denmark reverses decision to close Dar Embassy

DAR ES SALAAM, Nov 24 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — THE Embassy of Denmark in Tanzania has announced that it has reversed its decision to close its offices in Dar es Salaam.

The embassy expressed its commitment to continuing the long and fruitful cooperation between the two nations.

The Danish government had in 2021 announced its intention to close its mission in Tanzania by 2024, citing the adjustment of its international presence as one of the reasons.

Tanzania appeals for support to developing economies

Tanzania-Korea project to strengthens ICT use in teaching, learning

DP World in Tanzania: The UAE firm taking over Africa’s ports

DODOMA (Tanzania), Oct 24 (NNN-AGENCIES) — A multimillion-dollar deal signed between Emirati maritime giant DP World and Tanzania looks set to further entrench the dominance of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Africa’s freight industry.

Reports of the $250m deal first emerged in July, sparking criticism by the opposition that it “violated Tanzania’s constitution and endangers national sovereignty”.

Activists petitioned a court to halt the deal and were briefly detained for planning anti-government protests.

Tanzania welcomes more Chinese investors to support industrialization drive

DAR ES SALAAM, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Tanzanian Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa said on Monday that the country has opened its doors wide to more Chinese investors to support the East African nation's industrialization drive.

"Tanzania is ready to do business with you; our doors are wide open," Majaliwa assured the Chinese investors as he closed a one-day China Tanzania Investment Forum Zhejiang (Jinhua)-Tanzania Trade and Investment Conference held on Monday in the port city of Dar es Salaam.
