Pakistani student volunteers to fight COVID-19 in Tianjin China

BEIJING, Jan 22 (APP): A Pakistani studying in Nankai University, Tianjin, China along with other university fellows volunteered and served people in very cold weather in the fight against Covid-19.

I hope to do something (in fight against COVID-19) when China needs as Chinese government and people give me the opportunity to study here, said Akhtar Islam told China Economic Net (CEN).

PM Khan led Pakistan to expand GDP, increase growth rate: Chinese scholar

BEIJING, Jan 22 (APP): Pakistan, under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan has expanded the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to US$346 billion and achieved the growth rate of 5.37% in the fiscal year 2020-2021.

Pakistan’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) size expanded to $346.76 billion and the growth rate reached 5.37% in the fiscal year 2020-2021.

This is a great achievement made by all the Pakistani people under the leadership of the Imran Khan government, Cheng Xizhong, visiting prof at Southwest University of Political Science and Law said on Saturday.

UN General Assembly president to join China’s Winter Olympic torch relay

 BEIJING, Jan 22 (NNN-) — China said the president of the UN’s General Assembly will take part in the Winter Olympics torch relay, which organisers announced would be closed to the public because of coronavirus fears.
 
   Abdulla Shahid will participate in next month’s relay before the Feb 4 opening of the Games, Beijing’s foreign ministry said.
 
   He is the second top UN official to attend the Winter Olympics which are the target of a US-led diplomatic boycott over China’s human rights abuses.

Chinese company rolls out nationwide logistics services in Pakistan

BEIJING, Jan 21 (APP): The Chinese company which has rolled out nationwide logistics services across Pakistan was likely to cover about half of its population in February, Sun Chao, head of Speedaf Pakistan said on Friday.


“Moreover, we also provide China-Pakistan cross-border logistics services and warehouse and delivery services in Pakistan,” he said in an interview with China Economic Net (CEN).


As a leading logistics services provider plowing emerging markets, Speedaf initiated its business layout in Pakistan in September 2021.

China: CPEC moving forward against headwind posed by Covid-19: Zhao Lijian

BEIJING, Jan 20 (APP): Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Zhao Lijian Thursday said that the China- Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework was moving forward against a headwind posed by Covid-19 pandemic as well as promoting economic development and people’s livelihood in Pakistan.

He rejected the reports indicating that the work on the CPEC, a pilot project of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) had slowed down over the past three and half a year.

China, Russia, Iran hold joint naval exercise in Gulf of Oman

BEIJING, Jan 20 (APP): China, Russia and Iran held their second round of joint naval drills in the Gulf of Oman from Tuesday to Thursday this week, China’s Defense Ministry confirmed on Thursday.

The exercise aims to deepen the pragmatic cooperation between the navies of the three countries, and demonstrates their willingness to safeguard maritime security for the region, the ministry said in a statement.

Chinese mainland's new local COVID-19 infections on the decrease

BEIJING, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese mainland recorded 55 new locally-transmitted COVID-19 infections over the past day, a considerable drop compared with 127 newly reported a day earlier.

Tuesday saw 33 new local infections in Henan, 14 in Tianjin, seven in Guangdong, and one in Beijing, according to the latest data from the National Health Commission.

Across the Chinese mainland, a total of 32 imported COVID-19 cases were also newly reported.

China: Beijing residents disappointed Olympics will be closed event

BEIJING (AP) — With just over two weeks before the opening of the Beijing Winter Olympics, residents of the Chinese capital say they’re disappointed at not being able to attend events because of coronavirus restrictions that have seen parts of the city placed under lockdown.

Organizers announced Monday that no tickets will be sold to the general public and only selected spectators will be allowed. Access to the famed National Stadium, known as the Bird’s Nest, and indoor venues in the heart of Beijing have been sealed off.
